This is it, the final stretch! The Fortified Space demo is finally finished and ready for release on August 8, 2025. In the meantime, I provided pre-release access to some really great Youtubers who are now making videos of themselves playing through. They make some really interesting and funny content, so I'm really excited to have them try out the demo. Keep an eye out for those videos coming soon!
Since my previous post, I also added a new feature to the game that was so obvious that I'm kind of embarrassed I didn’t think of it before: a sandbox mode. Once you have successfully beaten a planet mission, the base you built persists in subsequent visits to the planet.
Not only that, but you can continually resupply yourself with unlimited materials. The enemy waves continue relentlessly, so if you’re the type of person who finds deep satisfaction in building elaborate, impenetrable fortresses that automatically defend themselves, this will definitely scratch that itch. If you decide you want to replay the planet mission from the beginning, there is a big “restart mission” button you can press at any time to delete your base and start over.
Yes, sandbox mode will be available in the demo version! Once you have beaten the demo planet mission, you’ll be able to access unlimited building materials and continue expanding to your heart’s content. Make sure to wishlist today so that you can jump on the demo as soon as it comes out!
