SuperWEIRD Playtest Update: New Upgrade Tree, Keybindings and Comics
Hi everyone
We have a new SuperWEIRD playtest update, and this one is mostly about making the whole run feel smoother, clearer and a little more complete. Some systems got rebuilt from scratch, some got a good polish, and a few things finally have the attention they deserved.
If you just drifted into our little corner of the universe, SuperWEIRD is an automation roguelite where you build weird production chains, command clumsy robots, piece together a broken planet from Tetris-like chunks, and fight the Corruption called Goofy Goo. You rescue quirky locals, grow your base, get stronger and then do it all again, because roguelite.
What's new
We redesigned the progression tree, so it should now be easier to see where you're going and why you want to get there. Workbench upgrades got a redesign too, and they should feel more readable and more satisfying to push forward. You can also finally change your keybindings, which a lot of you asked for.
The second and third stages of a run got a proper polish pass, so going deeper should feel much better now. We also changed the order in which you move to the map graph and the Tetris part, so the flow between them makes more sense. Robots and enemies got new attack animations, and the hub now has comics, including one for the finale of the last run. And of course, we fixed a pile of bugs. We also added a new sound pack and a bunch of optimizations.
If you already have a key, jump in and try to get as far into the run as you can. And if you don't have one yet, come to our Discord, where we run co-op tests and collect first-playthrough recordings. If you'd rather not talk to anyone, that's completely fine: just fill out the form, and we'll send you a key.
