Welcome or Welcome Back!
Today's update is a bit earlier than usual, because I'll be preoccupied for next week, which means I might not be around to drop an 0.4.9 update. Got some home renovation in the works, pain in the ass. In compensation, we've got 0.4.8, featuring a difficult new boss to fill out the roster and a new card for beating them.
Izanami, Yomibound
Izanami's our second tier 5 addition, and features a playstyle switch early in the fight, swapping from being defensive and controlling, to high aggression and burn once you get her past a certain mortis value. Make sure you take a look at the tips - it mentions a very important side point - codexes don't work in this fight!
I wanted to make this fight very thematic, so I've done quite a lot of work on presentation for this fight, even featuring a custom track for Izanami as well as being the first boss to feature a "mode switch" and a brand new mechanic that'll be expanded upon with more cards as time goes on.
Izanami will be able to alter the maximum hand size of the reaper, resulting in card draw being overall less effective, due to limited hand space. As usual, "adding" cards to your hand ignores the hand max, so you may want to leverage that.
The reward for beating her allows you to take the hand size adjustment present in this fight in your favour, and start really scaling out on just how much you can hold. Be careful you don't end up holding too much!
I should thank a friend for suggesting this mechanic, it's neat and I've got quite a lot of ideas of how to expand upon it, even possibly leveraging cards that have extra mechanics based on lowering your hand limit in trade for highly positive effects. You'll have to wait and see!
Discord Opened!
You'll find a new link in the game's main screen that takes you to the discord, it'll be essentially empty for a while I imagine, but if you've anything you'd like to ask me, it's there. I've had a few DMs here and there about the game and, while I don't mind that, I've also added a fair number of people that've essentially just said "hey man wanna give me 200 dollars and i'll run away with it- i mean make u art bro".
Also I made a banner so I'm damn well using it here.
Till next time!
