Welcome or Welcome Back!
In today's update there's a whole bunch of new cards for you to go find and theory craft with! I won't share all of them, but I'll share my favourites.
New Cards (30 to unlock!)
Now with an added 30 cards, the total number of cards in the game for the player reaches 117. More cards will come over the course of the game, of course, so this isn't the final number. However, cards in general will be taking a bit of a back seat to the new roguelike mode's development, so expect that to be the next chunky update.
Personal Favourites
As mentioned, I'll go over a few personal favourites and what the intent behind them was.
Last Resort - It's intended use is actually two fold, one to utterly nuke your deck and increase mortis, as is probably the more obvious use, but it's secondary use is to guarantee you'll have an empty deck, which has some incredible potency with it's "sister card" so to speak...
Photocopy - A card that allows you to shuffle in a very, very exact copy of your hand! With this setup, you can sculpt the perfect hand, detonate your deck for massive mortis increase towards the boss, then draw basically exactly what you want every turn thereforward, just make sure you're copying in another photocopy!
R34P - A favourite for a funny reason, this concept of reapers that used weapons related to the method in which they died to reap souls with (and sometimes divinities!) actually comes from an old short story I wrote some years ago, which ended up being a large part of the reason Final Notice is what Final Notice is today. This one took some work to get in properly, including a whole refactor of end of turn effects, but once I'd got the idea I had to complete it. Check it:
PEW.
Obviously there's an associated noise with it not present in the gif, but this card will draw a bullet trail right at the boss at the end of each turn, increasing it's mortis by 3 each time. However, the R34P firearm will burn your whole hand in compensation. That might seem like a steep cost, and it is, so you'd best be packing some cleanses if you want that free damage...
or just duplicate R34P however you can 6 times and sit back and watch 6 bullets get fanned at your opponent every turn change.
I won't cover any more - just a heads up not all these cards are that easy to unlock, so you might spend some time trying to figure out how. Any questions you know where to find me. All that said, we're full steam ahead on the roguelike mode. If you want more information on that, head here where I talk about it in depth.
Till next time!
