Hi Janitors! 🧹🪣
New devlog is here. I’m sure you’re wondering what’s new – here’s the answer!
What's new🕵
🔹 More NPC interactions – they use the intercom, close doors behind them, and litter.

🔹 They react to dirt and damage by displaying appropriate emotions in speech bubbles.
🔹 Rubbish that NPCs notice is given an additional marker (it hovers and has an icon) so that you also notice it.
🔹 A beer crate for collecting bottles, as well as a bottle collection point – you can exchange bottles for cash.

🔹 NPCs have a randomised system determining the conditions under which they wish to live. Their expectations are randomly generated, such as having the walls painted a specific colour or having specific furniture in the flat. The more of these expectations you fulfil, the more rent you’ll receive from them each month. You can also ignore this completely and they’ll pay the bare minimum.

With requirements ✅️

🔹 The player can turn down a particular NPC, which will result in new potential tenants arriving.
🔹 You must first unlock the flats with cash. The more flats you rent out, the more cash you’ll earn from rent, but also the more work and faults.
🔹 unpacking boxes containing larger, non-equipable items – you can’t exactly ‘put a sofa in your pocket’! And this includes a knife-sharpening mechanic in the form of a mini-game.

🔹 a clever system that detects whether you’ve painted the right colour on the right walls to meet the NPC’s expectations.

🔹 Electricity with lighting in the stairwell.

🔹 A more comprehensive end-of-day report – a system showing where and what rubbish you missed when collecting.

🔹 doorbell mechanics (when residents are in the flat, they’ll open the door; when they’re not, they won’t). Players can no longer freely enter flats when they’re occupied by NPCs.

🔹 More furniture, items and other models (such as a lift).

🔹 Noticeboard with random events from residents – whether in the flat or outside.

🔹 New newsstand.

🔹 New font, additions to item descriptions and names, as well as icons and sound effects; tests and fixes for game save/load; fixes to shaders for painting.

🔹 Extensive game optimisation to ensure it runs smoothly on both lower-spec and higher-spec computers.
🔹 NPCs have their own lives – they go to work, walk around the flat carrying out their daily activities.
🔹 Every day refreshes statuses and systems – a new cash pool, new NPCs, new events.
🔹 After 6 pm, NPCs return home from work.
🔹 Ivy regrows in real time; additionally, NPCs react to the ivy if it gets too big.
🔹 New tools: a upholstery knife and secateurs.
