The gameplay footage was recorded from our May build. Of course, by the time you watch it, a lot has already changed!
The latest version will be playable at upcoming in-person events!
Our Steam page is now live, so go ahead and add The Piper to your wishlist!
Project Update: Progress, Events and What's Next
So, What's The Piper All About?
You'll play as a lone wanderer arriving in Diamond City—a so-called "paradise." By luck (and a risky bet), you take over a run-down alchemy workshop and start from scratch: farming, brewing potions, and running your own shop. Along the way, you'll meet all kinds of characters, get involved with various factions (sometimes even fighting them), and build trust to carve your own unique path.
Time moves differently in Diamond City... but that's not really a problem, since the "outside world" is long gone. Eventually, every outsider becomes a local, pouring everything they have into building the city.
How's Development Going?
The Piper is still deep in development! The core gameplay systems are in place, and we're bringing an early demo to conventions to get hands-on feedback for more tuning and improvements.
The script is a work in progress. It's even bigger than our last project, Yog-Sothoth's Yard, with more story and tons of new art. To make sure everything's just right, we'll need a bit more time to polish it all.
Next up, we'll be demoing at shows like Bilibili World 2025 in Shanghai and BitSummit in Kyoto. We can't wait to see everyone face-to-face this (very hot!) summer.
We never want to create in a vacuum. That's why every time we have a playable build, we bring it straight to you—our most valued playtesters—at conventions. At Beijing G-Fusion, we received over a hundred pieces of feedback and suggestions on everything from controls and pacing to balance, new character impressions, and story. We've been working nonstop to make things better, and we're eager to hear even more at upcoming events!
What's Next?
Build, build, and build some more.
Aside from popping up at a few conventions, we're throwing ourselves 100% into development. Everything else can wait until The Piper is ready.
The game comes first. Always.
Finally, we hope you all have an amazing—and blazing—summer. See you soon!
