Hello all!
The Hermit Demo Limited Playtest is now available! You can request access today.
It’s an exciting announcement today – the public playtest is now available. I will first be doing a limited playtest with a smaller sample of players (request access, then be granted access a few people at a time). As long as no major stability issues are reported, within the next few days I will be opening up the playtest fully so that you can immediately download and play without requesting access (open playtest).

What is this playtest?
This is not a playtest of the whole game, but rather a playtest for the upcoming game demo which will be available on Steam sometime in the next couple of months.
I anticipate 4-6 hours of gameplay (it’s a big demo), but the game demo here is not part of the main game world. The game demo is actually its own, fully open-world, limited experience within the Hermit world. The playtest is for the Demo version 0.8.20, which is the current version of the game demo including most recent fixes/optimizations.
As the main purpose is to help me gather information about bugs/performance issues, the demo playtest features a bug reporting button on the main menu.
Other than that, just enjoy this preview of the upcoming Hermit demo!

Known Issues:
The use of Torches and Bows is a bit cumbersome; while quick-throwing torches alleviates this somewhat, my intention for the full game release is that Bows, Torches, and Weapons will each have separate equipment slots on the Player Character loadout (which should make swapping between them significantly smoother)
Control remapping is currently still unavailable; you are still welcome to try the demo if you are from a region using non-QWERTY keyboard layouts but you may find this cumbersome without key remapping implemented (this is planned for future releases, but is not available yet)
FSR3.0 is Implemented, but DLSS and XeSS are unlikely to be implemented in the Demo’s first release version
Some known bugs with quests, combat, and donkey companion behaviour still exist and are being looked into
Donkey/AIs may fail to jump over retaining walls near roads sometimes
AIs may rarely become stuck inside of walls or other objects; this is a known issue but being looked into
There is a known issue with using L-Alt to free-look while climbing on ladders; I am investigating this and a fix should be out shortly
