Hi everyone!
Over the past few weeks, development on KNITEWINGS has been focused almost entirely on the Convergences — eight additional environments that connect and reinterpret the four main realms of the game.

Today, I’m happy to say that the first environmental pass for all eight Convergences is complete.
From endless gothic cities and hanging prisons to rivers of lava, floating mountains and even the surface of the Moon, the Convergences have given me the opportunity to take familiar elements from KNITEWINGS and push them into completely new situations.
And perhaps the most exciting part is that almost all of this was achieved by recombining and reinterpreting assets and systems that were already part of the game.
The result is eight completely different places, each with its own identity and its own distinctive features — sometimes visual, sometimes tied directly to the way you move through and play the level.
So, what exactly are the Convergences?
The Convergences are transitional realms formed by the outer reaches of the four Alignments. Whenever the journey takes you from one Alignment to another, you must first travel through one of these borderlands.
Each Convergence represents a different passage between two Alignments, shaped by the distant edges of the realms it connects. This gives each one its own atmosphere, spatial structure and gameplay possibilities.
This gave me the freedom to explore ideas that could only be briefly touched upon in the main realms — or sometimes to use familiar elements in completely different ways.
A gothic city that was once crossed from a bridge can become an enormous space to fly through. The Hanging Prisons of Hell can expand into a vast open landscape. A glimpse of lava can become an entire river to follow and cross. And mountains that once formed a distant landscape can become floating islands you can fly between — and even land on.
In other cases, the Convergences take the journey somewhere completely different, from a high-speed flight through a dark rocky tunnel to running across the surface of the Moon with Earth looming ahead.
Together, they make the journey between the four main realms a part of the adventure itself, rather than simply a transition from one level to the next.
Earth → Paradise

A journey beyond the clouds, where the familiar skies of Earth gradually give way to a vast cosmic landscape on the way to Paradise.
Earth → Purgatory

A vast archipelago of floating mountains, ancient ruins and clouds, where you can fly between enormous landmasses — occasionally landing on them to collect treasures and Maeth.
Purgatory → Paradise

A high-speed flight through rushing clouds, with colossal celestial architecture looming in the distance.
Purgatory → Hell

A volcanic landscape carved by a winding river of lava, where the journey constantly shifts between running along its rocky banks and flying above the molten current.
Paradise → Earth

A lonely journey across the surface of the Moon, beneath a vast cosmic sky and with an enormous Earth dominating the horizon.
Paradise → Purgatory

An endless gothic city stretching toward the horizon, turning the architecture of Purgatory into a vast open space to fly through.
Hell → Purgatory

An immense expanse of suspended prisons, chains and clouds, where the remnants of Hell form a vast and solemn landscape high above the abyss.
Hell → Earth

A dark, claustrophobic passage through a winding rocky tunnel, turning the return from Hell into a frantic high-speed ascent toward Earth.
What else has been happening?
The Convergences have been a major focus over the past few weeks, but they haven't been the only part of KNITEWINGS moving forward.
I also completed the environmental work on Hell, including the final approach to Lilith and the preparation of her arena — one of the most important locations in that part of the journey.

At the same time, I've been working on a new original soundtrack for the game, experimenting with new compositions and sounds that I hope will give the journey an even stronger musical identity.
With Hell complete and the first environmental pass of all eight Convergences now finished, a very large part of the game's world is finally in place.
The next step will be to return to the Convergences for their second development pass, this time focusing much more heavily on gameplay: encounters, hazards, challenges and other elements that will make each journey through them feel as distinctive to play as it already looks.
After that, I'll begin a broader testing and optimization pass across the game as development continues toward the remaining bosses, enemies and the final stages of the journey.
There's still plenty of work ahead, but KNITEWINGS is now starting to feel less like a collection of levels under construction and more like the complete journey I originally imagined.
See you in the next update!
