Hey Survivors,
First, I want to give a huge thank you to everyone who answered the survey. 💬
Your feedback, ideas, and kind words mean the world to me. I read every single message, and I truly appreciate all the suggestions and encouragement. This project wouldn’t be the same without your support.
Now let’s talk about the next steps for the demo as we head toward the full release.
🌍 World & Exploration
Finishing the Map – Expanding with more POIs (Points of Interest), unique locations, and a World Boss to challenge the strongest survivors.
New Events – More activities and special encounters to keep exploration exciting.
📜 Quests – Quests will be added over time to give you more reasons to explore and enjoy the world as it grows.
🔧 Wrench Tool – A new item will let you repair your car anywhere in the world, making exploration smoother and less punishing.
🔫 Weapon Variations – More Depth to Loot
One of the exciting next steps is adding weapon variations to the game. Weapons won’t just be defined by their level anymore — they’ll also come with damage ranges and different rarities, giving loot more depth and replay value.
Example – Legendary AK
A Level 30 Legendary AK could roll between 50–70 base damage.
If you find one with 70 damage, you’ve got the best possible version of that weapon for its tier.
If it rolls closer to 50 damage, it’s still powerful, but not as rare as the max-damage variant.
Why this matters:
Loot Feels Exciting – Picking up a weapon will always come with that thrill of “is this a high roll?”
Build Variety – You’ll be able to chase better gear and swap depending on your luck and playstyle.
Progression System – Higher-level legendaries won’t just be stronger, they’ll have more potential variation, making the hunt for the best weapons more rewarding.
This system will apply not only to the AK but also to other weapons as I expand the arsenal. It’s a step toward giving Shatterland a Borderlands-style loot feel, where every drop matters and the best rolls become brag-worthy.
👹 Bosses & Difficulty
Boss Variations – Over time, bosses will get more variations and mechanics to keep fights exciting.
Difficulty Increase – Bosses will become more challenging as the game evolves.
Early Access Goal – At least 3 bosses will be available when the game enters Early Access.
🛡️ Shields & Survival Systems
Shield Items – Like Borderlands, shields will add extra protection. Example: a shield with 700 capacity lets you take 700 damage before health starts to drop.
Multiple Grenade Types – More tactical options for combat.
Lockpicking – Locked doors and safes that require lockpicks to open, adding risk vs. reward exploration.
✨ Quality of Life
Night Vision in Cars – Better visibility during night driving.
More Backpacks – Expanded inventory variety.
Rocket Launcher Fix – Improved animations.
Cloud Save – Protect your progress with Steam cloud saves.
🏠 Base Building & Crafting
House Decoration – Personalize your safe space with decorations.
New Building Materials – Including concrete structures for sturdier bases.
Disassembly Table – Break down items into components for recycling.
🏆 Achievements
Steam Achievements will be added so you can track and show off your survival milestones.
❤️ Final Words
The demo is still growing, but these systems and updates will bring us closer to the full release. My main focus now is on finishing the map, adding quests, introducing boss variations, and polishing the gameplay loop.
Thank you all again for the incredible feedback and encouragement. Keep sharing your ideas, and I’ll keep building.
See you in the wasteland,
Shatterland Dev
