If you type "RAND" and hit enter it will use a random filter between :
[ 0001 ]and[ 1290 ]inclusive .
[ 1281 ]to[ 1290 ]are tone mapping filters that are used to bring the image back
into the visible spectrum when the image becomes completely black or white .
The algorithm for these is really[ naive / stupid ]and the results are not the
greatest . But PHOSIMP is all about experimentation .
Also , no matter how[ stupid / shitty ]a filter is , there is always the
potential it can do something amazing in combination with other filters .
Flour might not be as amazing as refined sugar .
But you need both to bake a cake , do you not ?
While writing this , I have a tone mapping idea for the future .
It could function like a blur , but be for tone mapping .
For example , for each pixel , it could collect the average value of
a 7x7 radius of pixels around the pixel in the center .
This local average could be used to influence how the tone mapping works
for this specific pixel .
I don''t know all the details . I just know that LOCALIZATION of the tone mapping
to areas that do NOT consider the[ MIN ]and[ MAX ]of the[ ENTIRE_IMAGE ]but rather
consider the[ MIN ]and[ MAX ]of a small sub-section around the current pixel ...
Tone mapping filters like this could probably extract more intricate detail .
So I guess my idea wouldn''t compute the AVERAGE for the radius around the pixel ,
but rather the[ MIN ]and[ MAX ]pixel values . But I am sure there is a way to incorporate average value as well in all of this to make something interesting
happen .
I am rambling . But if I do not ramble now , I may lose the thought !
