Arriving on August 11, the new (free) update for Gremlins, Inc. adds the following:
A. NEW CONTENT

- New Misfortune: An Accusation.

B. NEW FEATURES
- New UI feature: Tips & Tricks – a special window with tips and tricks from players is now available in the main menu of the game.
- New UI feature: color blind mode – a new option in the Settings menu is now available, which adds visual patterns to Secret and Criminal card nameplates for better recognition.
- New UI feature: achievement notifications – now every time when you unlock an achievement, you see the in-game notification with a specific sound effect.
- New UI feature: session rules – a new window is now displayed in-game, summarising the rules of the current session; to access it, hover over the "(i)" button located next to the victory condition indicator in the upper part of the screen.
- New UI feature: Character Abilities button – a new button now is displayed whenever you hover over any player's avatar, and clicking on it will transport you to the Gremlinopaedia page of that character's type, showing their character abilities.
- New UI feature: medals in player profiles are now stackable, and similar medals will stack together.
- New UI feature: warning for leaving multiplayer lobby while session is still being assembled – a window will now appear asking you to confirm that you really want to leave the session currently being assembled, as leaving the lobby at such time will cancel such session.
- New UI feature: links to our studio's Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts are now available in the main menu of the game, so that you can follow our progress via conventional social feed(s).
C. CHANGES
- Changes in rating rules: during the official in-game tournaments, the results of all tournament sessions will no longer affect the value of player's regular rating (the inflation will still apply, though).
- Updated the conditions of winning a tie to the new algorithm cited in the game rules, now malice plays a role in determining the winner of Elections, Player Conflict and other such instances as well as the final score (if players are tied for money): the player with the least :malice: wins.
- Upgraded the algorithm of the matchmaking system to count each player's rating when the "Wait for opponents of similar rating" option is turned ON (it used to only count one player's rating, sorry about that).
- Updated the formula of how the rating points are calculated, it now counts the difference in rating with less of an impact on the calculation; additionally, the minimum of rating points that you receive for winning a session is now increased.
- Changed the calculation of tournament points to remove negative numbers from the algorithm, nobody is now losing tournament points – everyone wins, just different amounts.
- Replaced the sound effect of the "Opponent found" event/window with a new, louder sound effect (let us know if this is enough of a change?).
- Updated the jail experience icon: rather than round, it is now square (to make it easier to distinguish on lower resolutions).
- The "(i)" setting for cards ("always show card rules" option) is now saved between sessions; moreover, when this option is turned ON, card rules are shown on all the cards in the game (cards in hand, cards played, all the windows as well as in the visual log).
- Updated the window of "Select a Misfortune" with a new interface (the window is now larger, and allows for easier/faster selection).
- Custom single-player session is now highlighted in green for better visibility to new players, who otherwise sometimes rush into the challenges that are really hard to win.
- The "BACK" button has been synchronised across most UI windows, and is now always located in the top left corner of the window.
- Updated the character type session statistics window: added a field with explanations of each cell in the table, as well as the explanation of the whole table.
- Added a tooltip in the "Select your character type" window that cites the character abilities of each character type.
D. FIXES
- Fixed the louder-than-usual sound volume of the Astral Plane location ambient track.
- Fixed a bug where the game would get stuck after betting 0 money during the Misfortune "A Visit by the President".
- Fixed a bug where the game would get stuck due to disconnecting of one of the players at the time when the session was being created on the server, or during the character choice, which would sometimes cause character duplicates (you will now be able to reconnect to the game if your connection is lost).
- Fixed a bug where the game would get stuck upon playing "The Jumponator" after escaping from the Jail to the Dump.
- Fixed a bug where during Player Conflict between you and AI bot with one of players having 0 money, the Conflict would resolve automatically (without giving the player an opportunity to bet the amount of money they want to pay).
- Fixed a bug where bribes taken by the Governor did not update the :malice: value.
- Fixed a rare bug where after winning a Player Conflict on the Risk spot, the mechanics of the spot would work twice in a row.
- Fixed a visual bug where wrong number of votes and malice would be shown during Elections in the Election window.
- Fixed a bug where final game stats would not count card combinations of 4 and more cards.
F. KNOWN ISSUES
- Unfortunately, previously saved sessions will no longer be accessible after this update due to extensive changes on the server side. Sorry! We tried our best to avoid this, but the changes were too significant. We'll try to warn about this earlier if/when we do this the next time!
- Permanent indicators next to player avatars sometimes remain blinking despite corresponding events being over.
- The permanent card "The Astral Elevator" might still work in the next round even after being destroyed.
- When starting a session with only you and AI bots through the multiplayer lobby, the game will bug out.
- If the Astral Plane window is open, you cannot switch between Chaos Cards and the cards on your hand.
- If you disconnected and an AI won the game instead of you, the game will get stuck on re-connecting.
- The dice-roller animation will be visually bugged when rolling two or more times in a row.
- When hovering over a player's name in the list of players currently online (shown in the lobby), the tooltip that appears may display information that is not correct.
- Sometimes when loading single-player session, certain indicators will not appear on the playing field/will appear incorrectly.
- When activating "An Automated Bureaucrat", values of bribes next to player avatars may not refresh for a few turns.
- A Misfortune "Kidnapping" was rebalanced, leading to $100 shown in its description but still $80 displayed in its illustration. We will update the illustration soon enough!
- The stats for the most recently added single-player challenge – A Secret Assignment – do not count the score points that the AI bot already had at the beginning to the session.
Currently unable to reproduce at the studio:
- In very rare cases, selection of random spots or locations will not work.
- Sometimes, when having a jail rank that allows you to select from 3 jail events, the UI will only show two, but the third will still be clickable.
- In some rare cases, activated card "The Astral Elevator" still does not allow you to get to the Astral Plane through the Bank.
- Sometimes the "skip turn" icon will not show when working in The Plant.
- Single-player sessions will not save when, during that session, you agree to join a ranked session.
- Using the card "Secret Knowledge" sometimes might not work properly and will give random cards instead of the chosen ones.
- When playing the game on Ubuntu 14.04 x64, some Chinese characters will disappear in the Chinese version of the game.
- The visual representation of resources will sometime lose its background.
