NEW MODDING TOOLS ALREADY IN PRODUCTION
Today, we'd like to share with you a few updates: first of all, over the last few months we've been working on a number of tools that would make Gremlins, Inc. much more moddable.
There is still some way to go, but the results are already promising. We expect that eventually will enable players to modify the cards as well as playing field mechanics in the game through Steam Workshop, which is something that a lot of people in the community have been asking for. We wanted to share this news today to let you know that this is happening, and we have two developers working on this full-time right now.
THE AUDIENCE OF THE GAME KEEPS GROWING
Secondly, the player stats for January 2020 have come in. The great news is that every year, the audience of the game keeps growing, and January 2020 shows substantially higher numbers than the same month in any of the earlier years.
For a multiplayer tabletop game like Gremlins, Inc., sustaining the same size of audience year after year since its release is already a good achievement: this means that there is always someone to play with. Seeing this audience increase is even better: we welcome all the new, and the returning, players, and we promise to continue the same development policy that we follow with Gremlins, Inc. since 2015: to keep adding more content as free updates, and to organise regular tournaments, for everyone to enjoy the game from different angles.
Also worth mentioning: the population of the game's Discord server has increased by 23% over the last year! You can join here.
BALANCING BASED ON SERVER DATA
Thirdly, we also started a large project ("big data") that is analysing the real server data for tens of thousands of ranked sessions. We are now looking into large data samples for how different cards are played, and whether some balancing changes must be necessary even though we don't notice such cases at a glance.
In the course of the last month, we built a system that brings together millions of individual entries for a larger picture. You will see the results of this approach with the next update, where we plan to introduce balancing changes based on the analysis of the last 50,000 ranked sessions.
TWO NEW CARDS
Finally, today we also would like to present to you the 2 new cards which we will introduce with the Spring Update (most likely, it will happen in late March):
PRIZE FUND
Location: Casino
Cost: FREE
Move points: 4
Type: regular
Choose what you get: +$100 or +ːvotesː4 or -ːmaliceː4.
"If you are tasked with distribution of valuable prizes, do not forget to quietly add yourself to the list of winners. Preferably under some kind a pseudonym."
SPIRE OF GREMLINS
Location: Inferno
Cost: $650
Move points: 5
Type: secret
Get: +ːscoreː8 +ːmaliceː1
Special rule: Each opponent loses ːvotesː3. Teleport to The Astral.
"Conceived as the greatest breakthrough that would connect the Inferno and the Astral Plane, the Spire of Gremlins became a perpetually delayed construction project. Some say that the construction of this Spire cannot be finished, but can only be stopped.
We hope that you have a good time playing Gremlins, Inc. and we look forward to bringing you more content, and the new modding features, in the near future!
