Welcome back to the Lawn! We’ve taken the timeless 2009 classic and replanted it for modern PCs with crisp new visuals, smooth performance, and quality‑of‑life features that make this the best way to play on Steam.
TL;DR: No Launcher, 4K support, Cloud Saves, controller support, achievements (37!), local co‑op & versus, and all‑new challenge modes — plus a lovingly curated Art & Concept Library.
Why play on Steam?
Native Steam build – fast, stable, and built for PC — no EA App required
Looks gorgeous in 4K* – Remastered art and modern resolution support throughout the whole game (yes, even menus).
Cloud saves – Seamlessly pick up your run between desktop and handheld play.**
Controller support – Play with your favorite Xbox or PlayStation style controller, or a mouse & keyboard.
37 Steam Achievements – A mix of returning classics (including some never before on PC) plus a few brand‑new surprises. (No Steam Trading Cards at launch.)
Local Multiplayer – Couch co‑op and PvP, bring a friend and experience chaotic backyard brawls with 100% more butter!
Localized UI & text – English, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese.
* Up to 4K depending on hardware.
** Steam Deck plays great; Verified status is pending.
What’s new vs. the 2009 GOTY edition?
Modern visuals & resolutions
1080p and 4K support across the entire experience.
Clean, remastered presentation that stays true to the original.
New single‑player modes
Cloudy Day Mode – A tactical twist: when clouds roll in you earn far less sun. Spend carefully, survive the storm, and strike when the skies clear.
Rest In Peace (RIP) Mode – A hardcore, single‑attempt ironman run through Adventure Mode. Lose a level and your RIP run resets to the beginning.
Bonus Levels – Unique new levels lost in “limbo” for years, now available for players to experience!
Multiplayer (local)
Co‑op and PvP Gameplay – Team up to fend off hordes of zombies together, or battle against each other as both plants and zombies for ultimate bragging rights!
Quality‑of‑life
Speed settings – Choose 1x, 1.5x, 2x, or 2.5x for extra challenge or quicker runs.
Full controller support – Designed for both couch and desk setups.
Art & Concept Library – Browse sketches and concept art from across PvZ’s history.
Achievements – 37 total (GOTY had 21) including classics, console‑only throwbacks, and brand‑new goals.
[Localization – Expanded language support in English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese [/p]
