In this week’s update we have updated the tutorial, added a new mission log, and optimized ship devices for a smoother experience!
From the main menu when you select the tutorial you will start on a damaged ship which the new mission text and markers will help you fix. The tutorial will guide you through the basics of operating, maintaining and mining the resources for a ship. We are fairly confident that this tutorial is a massive upgrade from the previous one, and believe that it will give you a much better feel for the game and hopefully won’t leave you confused when you enter the game. This tutorial will help you through the basics of the game however we have plans to make some additional tutorials that will go more in depth about advanced flight mechanics, ship construction and combat. More on this in a future update.
These new missions markers and quest texts have also made its way into the rest of the mission system. When you accept a mission from a bulletin board you will get a step by step quest log that will let you easily keep track of where you are supposed to go and what you are supposed to do in order to complete these missions. The mission log can be toggled by pressing the mission log button (default key: L). These new mission tracking systems are currently only applied to missions which were previously in the game, however this system will enable us to make much more complicated multi stage missions in the future.
Additionally we have pushed through a series of performance improvements as well as bug fixes that should help the game be much more stable and run better on lower end systems. We are still looking into the hiccups during saving and when someone joins a server. But rest assured in the knowledge that they are high on our list of priorities.
Also in this patch are several improvements to the repair gun, such as different context based colors on its screen. For the full list of fixes, improvements and additions please see the patch notes.
