As you might have guessed from the title, Interstellar Rift will soon be moving to Beta.
So, what does that mean for the you, the players? The move to Beta is mainly a change in our development schedule. We will no longer be adding features that require us to rework a lot of the code behind the scenes. Instead we’ll focus on adding content to the existing features, polishing up things that have been added in the past, and adding features that work with the framework that we have been building.
It also marks a point where we can focus more on optimizing and stability. The repeated process of changing how large parts of how the game code works has continuously been breaking other parts of the game (as feature implementation tends to do). Which in turn would require us to fix those before moving on to new stuff.
There will still be new additions to the game, both large and small. The main thing is that the underlying systems have been implemented, and won’t see any drastic changes anymore.
Interstellar Rift is on sale right now, and will move to Beta shortly after the sale ends. As that happens there will also be a slight increase in the price. The game will go from € 14.99 to € 17.49, or your regional equivalent.
Patches won’t change much, expect to still see a lot of tweaks to the game and new stuff being added. The next update for example will add in a couple of new weapons, rework the spawning and balance of Skrill, and make some changes to the default CPU and Armor values, scaling them a little with the size of your ship.
Lastly we would like to thank everyone who tried the game over the last 4 years; from the people who play tested just the editor way back before the game even came to Steam, to those who joined us before combat was even a thing, and to the people who picked up the game in this week’s sale. Your feedback continues to be invaluable to the development of the game.
Thank you all for playing and see you starside!
