Hello everyone, we’ve been working on a few different things for the upcoming update(s) to the playtest. Major features include new abilities for the SCPs, new room layouts, crouching, and a new UI.
SCP Abilities
The SCP team has been getting some touchups to hopefully make them a more enjoyable experience. We’ve got most of the current roster planned out with new abilities and stats, and Virtual has been hard at work implementing the ideas.
SCP-173
SCP-173 has been given a new ability; Rebar. This allows it to take control of a rebar tendril capable of slithering into tight spaces the sculpture couldn’t otherwise reach and ensnaring humans.
The rest of the SCPs have been planned out, but have not been implemented yet. Progress will be shown in the Discord server as they are worked on, so be sure to join that for more frequent news.
New Room Layouts
Some rooms around the site have been touched up or received entirely new layouts.
LCZ-HCZ Checkpoint
These two rooms will connect the HCZ and LCZ together, featuring two standard elevators and a bit of loot on the LCZ side.
Nuke Room
Nuke room is quite large, featuring a diagonal elevator into the massive warhead silo. The lower level has the control room for the warhead with a tier 2 admin keycard inside, a zone capture node, and a separate tier 2 armory holding a tier 3 security card. The top floor uses the elevator as a bridge through the room, however a maintenance balcony that overviews the lower level functions as a shortcut.
SCP-049 Containment Chamber
SCP-049’s containment has been shrunken down from its current in-game iteration. Within you can find the main cell, a surgical and observation room, and an incinerator for SCP-049-2 instances. This room has tier 3 security & research keycards locked behind tier 2 doors of the same types, providing more options for progression in the HCZ.
Crouching
Crouching was introduced previously, however some changes have been made. SCP-173 can no longer crouch, and crouch-jumping now gives you a small boost upwards. Additionally more vents have been added for you to crouch through.
UI Overhaul
The UI has been given touchups in certain areas. The player’s main inventory and health / other resource bars are now all near the bottom of the screen, and the inventory has two ‘hotslots’ that allow items to be quickly equipped by pressing 1 or 2.
Round End Screen
The round end screen has also been updated to show stats and selects an MVP based on various actions taken throughout a round.
