🎮 System & Engine Refactoring
Next-Gen Input System: The entire input system has been completely rewritten. The game now capable to support Gamepads, Steam Decks, and modern controllers with standardized, refined battle controls built for long-term support. More work will be needed, but the baseline is set.
🎬 Narrative & Feature Milestones
Main Quest Finished: The final chapter has arrived. It is now fully possible to play the main story to its conclusion. (Note: Final voice lines are partially AI-assisted for now, but will be phased out and replaced step-by-step, when the factions will come one by one).
Classic Animated Portraits: Tasha, Elliot, Apex, Calypso, Goose, and Jaeger now have moving lips and blinking eyes inspired by retro classics. This can be toggled on/off in the settings, with more characters coming soon.
New Jamming Training Scenario: A brand-new mission joins the training/demo roster. Learn how to execute jamming raids on hostile ships—critical for operating in high-density sectors before enemy reinforcements arrive.
🛠️ Strategic & Tactical Polish
Seamless Optimization: Strategic map and engineering views load even faster. Remember, HIRED STARS hides all loading screens in the background after game startup—your experience stays unbroken.
Thread-Safe Randomization: Internal math logic and RNG handling were rebuilt from scratch, yielding better multithreaded performance and long-term stability.
Strategic Time Ticking: Time calculations on the galaxy map now run on dedicated threads, eliminating frame-rate drops when time passes.
Cinematic Camera Pan: Panning the camera by touching the screen edges in tactical and strategic views is now perfectly smooth with a soft fade-out.
UI Refinements: The deployment and battle preparation screens received targeted visual and clarity upgrades.
Flavor Audio Adjustments: Rebalanced the main menu music to be quieter and updated the audio options menu with the new Captain voice samples.
👥 Crew Immersion & Training
Engineering Chatter: Right-clicking a ship with an assigned captain will now trigger a special flavor comment from that character.
Interactive Training: The Emperor, Elliot, and Konrad will now speak and comment when you interact with buttons in the demo/training module.
Data Preparation: Data restructuring and asset renaming continue behind the scenes, preparing the engine layout for upcoming localized text and audio.
🐛 Bug Suppression & Quality of Life
Fix: Resolved a bug where clicking "Continue" from the main menu after playing a training mission failed to load your actual last save.
Fix: Fixed a rare crash caused by hovering over faction details.
Steam Screenshots: Added standard F12 support to seamlessly capture and save screenshots.
The Path Ahead
With the core audio refactoring and major voice overhauls successfully locked in, the focus is shifting. While there is still room to further polish the audio, the groundwork is laid, and it is time to inject more content into the universe.
The game runs smoother —now it needs more action. The immediate priority is giving love to the battle mechanics, expanding the weapon sandbox, and creating dynamic new opportunities for players to hunt down and engage in combat across the stars.
