Greetings, Commanders!
A huge thank you for the feedback from the ChinaJoy and all the great suggestions you’ve shared since our last message. In this Developer Update for European War 4: Napoleon Remastered, we’re excited to pull back the curtain on some new game content and planned adjustments based on your input.
To make things as clear as possible, we'll be using a Q&A format. Let's dive in!
Q1: The new menus and UI look fantastic, but the in-game visuals seem mostly unchanged. Are more graphical upgrades planned for the Remastered version?
A1: Yes. We have a clear roadmap for significant in-game visual enhancements. This includes more detailed terrain on the grand map, optimized textures for vegetation, and higher-fidelity building models. We will share screenshots of our progress in a future update. Through these upgrades, we aim to create a far more immersive and visually stunning battlefield experience for all our Commanders.
Q2: In the original mobile version, our AI allies were often... less than helpful. Will we be able to declare war on them in the Remastered version?
A2: Yes. Based on commanders' feedback, we've decided to add a feature that allows you to declare war on your allies. We believe this will increase strategic freedom, allowing commanders to react to the shifting tides of war, manage complex factional relationships, and execute your grand strategy without being held back by incompetent partners.
Q3: You’ve mentioned a new card system in previous dev messages. Can you share more details about how it works?
A3: The card system is designed to add a new layer of strategic depth to battles. These cards, earned entirely through gameplay, will provide a variety of powerful effects—from boosting your generals' abilities and granting combat buffs to altering environmental conditions on the battlefield. Our goal is to expand tactical possibilities with these cards, not to simply replace existing consumable items. Furthermore, the method for acquiring cards will be integrated into the game’s progress and will not involve any additional payments.
Q4: Speaking of which, you said this will be a buy-to-play game. Does that truly mean a one-time purchase with no other microtransactions?
A4: Yes. European War 4: Napoleon Remastered is being built on the core principle of providing a complete, premium experience with a single purchase.
There will be no in-app purchases of any kind—no card draws, no resource packs, no stamina refills. All consumable item functions from the original version (like instant healing and morale boosts) are being removed entirely, and the game is being rebalanced accordingly.
Q5: Will the Remastered version have an achievement system?
A5: It will. The in-game achievement system will be fully synchronized with Steam achievements from launch. We are currently actively optimizing the achievement system. It will not be a simple copy of the original; instead, we are fully considering the features of the Steam platform and the single-player experience to create a system that is more challenging, rewarding, and better suited for a PC strategy game.
That’s all for this developer update! Thank you again for your passion and your fantastic feedback. It truly helps us shape the game.
We'll be back with more news soon. If you have any questions or suggestions, drop them in the comments below—we’re always listening!
Best regards,
