Hello everyone, just wanted to share some progress that's been made on Arcadian Days! I have been very busy with new content and gameplay improvements that will make the experience even better!
Expanded Opening
The game will have a new opening set in a big region that will onboard you on the game mechanics as well as the world and story! You can see a preview below of the new tutorial area!
New game mechanics
Constructions are now more involved and tied into the story of Arcadian Days, for example the ability to build bridges will now be tied to solving a specific quest for an NPC. Exploration will be much more rewarding while making progress clearer without removing the non-handholding design.
New quests unlock based on your progress and discoveries as well as more visible changes to both the homestead and the maps. Your actions will shape the world and atmosphere.
New Area - Campol Luj
Travel the peaceful fields of Campol Luj, covered in golden wheat and gentle breezes. New adventures await!
Story is taking shape
What is the origin of the mysterious ruins scattered throughout Bucuria? You will be able to learn about the ancient civilization that inhabited the land thousands of years in the past. Besides that, you will learn more about the Dragobete Family and the culture of Bucuria. The story of Arcadian Days is ever evolving with more story chapters to come.
ANIMALS!
Cute animals can be spotted on your adventures! This is still work in progress but I am hoping to at least have some animals as environmental encounters to make the world more dynamic. The sheep will also be tied to their own quest, and animals planned include rabbits, deer and European Bisons!
Controller support is ready!
Controller support is coming in the next update, as I finally got it to work properly! You can now enjoy this cozy adventure using your gamepad.
Massive performance upgrade + SteamDeck
The game is already significantly more performant thanks to a heavy focus on optimization, which runs in parallel for SteamDeck support so you can enjoy this calm game from your coziest places! I am hoping to get it to be fully approved and playable on SteamDeck for the next update.
Achievements!
Achievements are being implemented and they are great. They will also serve well to help you progress throughout the game.
Demo coming soon!
The opening of Arcadian Days will be available as a demo very soon prior to the new update. You will get the chance to explore the new changes and see how the game has evolved!
Thank you for everyone's support who has followed Arcadian Days so far, if you are able to buy and check out the current version it would mean the world, otherwise even a wishlist to stay in the loop will be amazing. As always, if you have new comments, feel free to reach out here or on the Discord!
Many thanks,
Cal - Arcadian Days Developer
