Hello everyone,
Development on Kanka v0.9.0-alpha is now complete.
This is an internal development milestone rather than a public release, but it represents one of the biggest gameplay updates we’ve completed so far as we continue working toward Early Access.
The main focus of v0.9.0-alpha is the introduction of Class Skills and Skill Trees.
Class Skills Are Here
Each of Kanka’s four playable classes now has two unique Active Skills:
Soldier
Challenge Pulse
Bulwark
Doctor
Triage Pulse
Nanite Field
Scientist
Arc Discharge
Weakness Analysis
Engineer
Deploy Combat Turret
Overclock
These skills are designed to strengthen the identity of each class and give players more ways to shape their role in combat.
New Skill Trees
The new Skill Tree system allows each character to unlock and improve their class abilities using Skill Points.
Skills can be ranked up, enhanced with modifiers, equipped to the Ability Bar, and respecced when you want to experiment with a different setup.
The HUD has also been expanded with a dedicated Skill Bar, while the character menu now includes a full Skills section for managing progression and equipped abilities.
More Than Just New Skills
A large part of this milestone was also focused on improving the systems already in the game.
v0.9.0-alpha includes work across:
Co-op consistency and multiplayer world interactions
Save, inventory and loot reliability
Enemy and combat performance
UI and gameplay feedback
Crafting and controls
Cinematic presentation
Graphics and frame-generation stability
General fixes and polish
Some of these changes are small on their own, but together they make Kanka feel noticeably more consistent and stable during longer gameplay sessions.
Moving Toward Early Access
With the Class Skills system now in place, all four classes have a much stronger gameplay identity and a more meaningful progression path.
There is still plenty of work ahead, but completing v0.9.0-alpha brings us another significant step closer to Early Access.
