Hi Everyone,
The Demo is Out Now!
In Episode 1, the heroes meet for the very first time - forming their first impressions, facing early challenges, revealing glimpses of their pasts, and beginning to unravel the mystery of their strange arrival…
All of it shaped by YOU.
This is a huge milestone for me, but the adventure is just beginning- the demo is only a small glimpse of my overall vision. With that in mind, here are a few important notes:
This Is Only the Beginning
Episode 1 focuses on a few smaller locations and on introducing the party members to each other. You’ll see hints of their troubles, their pasts, their ambitions, and their initial reactions to one another. Most importantly, it sets the foundation for the main storyline - including each hero’s personal goals.
Because this is a demo, long-term goals cannot yet be achieved.
About the Game Systems
Certain systems - combat, relationship mechanics, and decision points - don’t yet show their full depth. Episode 1 is essentially a tutorial, so its job is to introduce active and passive skill checks, group checks, the character sheet, decision points, and more, without overwhelming new players or pulling focus from the story.
Future episodes will greatly expand on these systems. Characters will learn and use new skills, spells, and abilities throughout the story, and your choices regarding personality, background, and skills will affect the outcome of every challenge.
Your Heroes, Your Story
Although the main storyline follows a mostly set path - a handcrafted branching narrative rather than procedural generation - the events you experience are tailored to the specific party you create. Replay the demo with different characters and builds; don’t hold back! The Spirit is designed to support heroes with the strangest traits and backgrounds. If you think of something wild that isn’t covered yet, tell me - I love when unusual character combinations create unexpected stories.
The World of The Guiding Spirit
Episode 1 already includes some early “world reactivity,” but this will become far more apparent later on as the world opens up to reveal its factions, complex characters, unique locations, and deeper lore (you can already read a few in-game books in the demo!). NPCs will react to your choices - even ones made in Episode 1. You’ll meet characters you can question, befriend, join, deceive, or betray - changing storylines entirely.
Features like dynamic weather or random monsters are intentionally not present yet, to keep the first-time experience from feeling too hectic.
“I Don’t Want to Spend Hours in Character Creation…”
No problem! A random character generator and a button to randomly assemble a party from your existing characters are both available for players who want to jump straight into the story.
The Game’s Goal
This project aims to blend the feel of reading an engaging book with the satisfaction of solving a puzzle - piecing elements together to steer the story wherever you want. It’s meant to be a chill, cozy experience, though things can get tense; your characters are on their own once the story begins, there’s no going back (the game saves when you quit the story).
It also strives to capture the classic chaos of a TTRPG session. You can play solo or invite friends to create their own characters for your party. Last year I ran a session with my TTRPG group using characters they made in the game (none of them knew what the others had created until the session started). It quickly became everything we usually experience in our role-playing sessions: tension, teamwork, surprises, wild ideas, suspicion, rivalry, backstabbing - plans falling apart in every direction. When someone said it felt like our old sessions again, I knew I was on the right track.
It’s All About the Party
Though I’m a solo developer, this game is all about building a party and having fun watching your favourite fantasy characters cooperate… or stab each other in the back (cough).
I plan to keep developing this project together with the community - and that includes YOU.

I hope you enjoy the demo!
