Hi everybody! WHAT A MONTH! Quite a busy one. We're making some final upgrades regarding the visual appearance of the game. We're still redesigning the main character (mostly done, just needs some finishing touches), adjusting the environment in the game (focusing on forests) and also rebranding the whole thing (Steam related visuals). Here are some topics we would like to highlight.
Substance painter
We started using Substance painter and it really is a game changer (pun intended). We were hesitating with it as it is quite an expensive piece of software but it makes the process of painting 3D objects so much easier (we were not sponsored by Adobe to say this). We first used it to paint the trees we have redesigned and the trunks look much better now.
Chirpy is also currently in the paint shop and we're quite excited to test the redesigned version in the game.
Chirpy animation
As the model and the bones of our main character have changed we had to recreate all the animations as well. They are all completed and tested. Maybe some tweaking is required but they are quite close to what we are aiming for.
Forest redesign
All the tree updates, additional foliage, lighting tweaking camera angles testing etc. will boil down to this one. And well ... You can be the judge of it but we - going through the process and all - think the visual update is quite big. A lot of little details that all together make a difference. Slowly getting there.
