We're delighted that players frequently mention our past board game titles. Today, we'd like to introduce you to the previous entries that paved the way for Magical Princess.
Of course, Magical Princess is a fully standalone experience — you don't need to know any of the earlier games to enjoy it. But if you're curious about the series' history, please read on!
The Journey of the Magical Series
The board games in the Magical Series follow the journey of Cornet, a magical girl.
In Magical Princess, the protagonist is a blonde-haired girl named Alice, but the star of the previous titles was Cornet, a girl with pink hair.
Given her significance, Cornet plays a crucial role in Magical Princess as well. She reigns as Queen of the Panetteria Kingdom, seems to hold secrets about the world, and even serves as one of Alice's potential love interests.
What sort of life has Cornet lived until now? Let's revisit the major titles in the series:
1. Magical Bakery
— "When survival is on the line, you can't afford to play fair."
In the Panetteria Kingdom, bread is created through magic.
The story begins as the magical apprentice Cornet starts her training at a notoriously harsh bakery, where apprentices are quickly fired if they fail to bake properly.
Can Cornet survive and avoid being fired?
2. Magical Bakery: I'm the Manager!
— "Running a bakery takes more than just good intentions."
Fed up with her toxic workplace, Cornet decides to open her own bakery.
But the reality of running a bakery proves harsh, forcing Cornet into questionable practices like unpaid wages and oven thefts.
Facing sabotage from rivals, can she make her bakery the best in town?
3. Magical Bakery: Magical Girls Rebellion
— "Wait, you actually want to get paid?!"
Thanks to questionable business practices, Cornet's bakery has become the most successful shop in town. However, her employees rebel, demanding their unpaid wages.
Cornet attempts to quell the rebellion with overwhelming magical firepower, but the workers unite against her.
Can she suppress the uprising?
4. Magical Bakery: A conglomerate from today!!
— "Our bakery now also deals in theft."
Having subdued the rebellion, Cornet expands beyond bakeries into pubs, cake shops, weapon stores, and even organized theft rings.
But new rivals appear. Will she succeed in building the kingdom's largest conglomerate?
5. Magical Kingdom
— "When building my ideal kingdom, anything goes."
From apprentice baker to Queen Cornelia, Cornet now rules the kingdom.
However, managing a nation proves challenging: corruption, economic struggles, citizen discontent, and threats from neighboring countries arise.
Can Queen Cornelia create her ideal kingdom?
6. Magical Kingdom: Ricel Empire Invasion
— "Self-defense justifies anything."
No sooner had Queen Cornelia stabilized her rule than war erupted between the bread-loving Panetteria Kingdom and the rice-based Ricel Empire.
Immediately after Ricel's declaration of war, Cornelia counterattacks, claiming it as preemptive self-defense.
7. Magical Kingdom: Riot in the Royal Capital
— "Borrowing divine power permanently is fine, right?"
Peace after the war with Ricel Empire doesn't last long. A sudden "Witch of Calamity" appears, destroying Panetteria's capital.
To restore peace, Queen Cornelia ascends to the heavens, borrowing divine powers to fight the witch.
Incidentally, this borrowed divine power remains unreturned even in the Magical Princess era — effectively stolen.
8. Magical Kingdom: New World Order
— "Let's change the rules so I win."
Although peace returns to Panetteria, the Ricel Empire remains threatening.
Queen Cornelia thus seeks alliances with the Potato Nation, Noodle Nation, and Bean Nation, wielding divine power to establish diplomatic ties and ensure a peaceful bread-centric world free from rice-driven fear.
And now, Magical Princess…
This series of events brings us to Magical Princess, set several years after the Magical Kingdom stories.
