The world of The Voynich Project is starting to come alive
With this new update, several scenes in the demo that previously used static illustrations now feature subtle environmental animation.
Slowly moving clouds, glowing lights, swaying leaves and other small environmental details make these locations feel a little more alive while preserving the illustrated style of the game.
✨ Animated scenes included in this first batch
The dream sequences at the beginning of the story.
The train station.
The dormitory entrance.
The city streets, both during the day and at night, as well as the park.
The campus entrance, its surroundings and the backyard.
The campus at night.
The supermarket entrance and interior.
The tea scene on the train.
The tarot reading room.
And this is only the beginning. More animated backgrounds will gradually be added in future demo updates.
⚙️ Play the way you prefer
We have also added a new “Animated backgrounds” setting under Options → General.
Animated backgrounds are enabled by default, but you can disable them at any time if you prefer the original static illustrations or want better performance on lower-end systems.
When disabled, the game will simply use the static versions of these backgrounds.
🛠️ One more small improvement
We also reorganized parts of the Options menu, with clearer categories and less scrolling required to find each setting.
More backgrounds will continue to come alive over time.
