Hello everyone,
As mentioned in the last update, our focus has been on implementing ship and squad management. Today, I’d like to share some insights into this feature.
Galactic Space Guard is currently played on a space map in a sandbox style, where you choose your missions and explore space on your own terms. You travel to locations, such as an abandoned spaceship, and launch missions you’ve contracted for. Your squad is deployed from your spaceship using drop pods.
On the ship, you equip and manage your soldiers (crafting is also planned for the ship in the future). A central element is the stash, similar to those in extraction shooters, where you store your acquired equipment.
Your soldiers can level up, allowing you to allocate attribute points across six skill categories (Light Weapons, Heavy Weapons, Medical Skill, Willpower, Constitution, Precision), each affecting your soldiers’ capabilities. Additionally, based on your skill distribution, each soldier can learn abilities with both passive and active effects. |

Furthermore, you can heal wounds sustained during missions in the infirmary and construct drop pods for mission deployment, which costs material points.
Ship management is planned to represent a meta-layer to the gameplay that takes place during missions, adding an overarching progression system where you build your squad and achieve progress in the galactic conquest (more on that later).
Until next time, Guardists. Prepare for combat!
