Hey everyone!
Daria from Possum Riot speaking 👋
We’ve been a bit quiet since the demo launched, so we wanted to share what we’ve been working on.
Long story short: we’ve been rebuilding the game from the ground up.
“Refactoring” honestly doesn’t fully describe it anymore. As we’ve gone deeper into Unity and C#, we’ve found much better ways to structure the project, so instead of patching the old systems, we decided to rework the core architecture almost from scratch.
It’s not the flashiest kind of progress, and we don’t have a pile of shiny new screenshots to show yet, but this is one of the most important things we can do for the game’s future.
For us, it means we’ll be able to add new content and features much faster, with less fighting against old systems. For you, it should mean a smoother, more stable, and more polished experience overall.
What’s next?
We’re not sure exactly how long the refactoring will take, but we’re doing our best to get an updated demo out by the end of summer.
We’re planning to split that into two steps:
The first update will be mostly technical. The main purpose of this update will be to fix the bugs. The content and features will stay the same, but everything will be running on the new architecture behind the scenes.
The second update will bring more of the fun stuff: more crafting elements, more customers, story customers, a talents and a progress systems, and more content overall.
We also want to take part in Next Fest this October, so over the coming months we’ll do everything we can to polish the demo and make it as strong as possible before then.
And once that’s done, we’ll shift our full focus back to the complete game.
Thanks a lot for your patience and support. It means a ton to us, and we’re excited to keep building this game properly.
See you soon!
