Hey Prospectors,
HAPPY WILDGATE ANNIVERSARY!!!
365 Days of Space Crimes
A year ago today, Wildgate launched into the Reach. For many of our team, it was a giant, exciting and scary leap after several years of development. For others, it was the realization of an idea that first came to life way back during the pandemic, when many of us looked up and dreamed of the stars.
Here’s a video celebrating some of our—and most importantly, your—memories over the last 12 months and beyond. We’ve dug through the archives from Wildgate’s earliest days as “Project Nebula”—from our first closed and open playtests, your clips, and even the top secret meme folder lovingly furnished by our QA team.
This Week’s Festivities
We’re throwing some parties this week, and you’re invited!
Some of our team will be jumping in-game at around 1pm PT today, Wednesday, July 22 (that’s 10pm CEST), and either queuing into games or starting some custom lobbies. Hop in if you can! We’d love to see you, and hopefully steal your Artifact if we’re playing Artifact Brawl or Fleet Battle—nothing personal.
We also have a community screenshot challenge with ship names and titles on the line, and a community-run tournament looking for keen crews. Check out our 1st Anniversary activities blog here for more info.
Keep an eye out next week for a fan-art showcase featuring many of the wonderful creations you’ve shared with us in the Wildgate Discord since before launch!
What a Long, Strange Flight It’s Been
It’s been a wild year all round—pun absolutely intended. We dreamed up the universe of Wildgate to be a beautiful and dangerous place, but above all, one where wondrous things could happen when people worked together. You’ve shown us that in spades by flying around, finding out, and showing up for each other through all the minefields, laser rams and Zyglom attacks.
However long you’ve been flying with us, whether you crewed up during our closed tests or joined us at any point since, a sincere thank you from us all for making Wildgate and the Reach your home.
We’ll be back next week to reflect a bit on the journey so far, and to enjoy your wonderful art.
In the meantime, see you online!
