Hey y'all, I've finally got a bunch of fixes in. There were some bugs reported, and I had to fix them all in one fell swoop. Fixing one led to discovering another, and another, and another, and you understand. Also I was really distracted by working on the next project (sorry!).
SO here's the updates:
Reduced player speed back to (or closer to) original PD1/PD2 speeds. I increased it in the latest update to match what's in PD3, but this was causing various issues with tight platforms, puzzle timing, and so on.
Added player tap-turnaround - it should be easier to change directions from a standstill without moving.
Obtained items now register save/load with inventory, so we avoid weird cases where the items were "always solved".
Added safety logic to prevent various issues with legacy “slides”
Removed code that was triggering player to push / phase into objects that shouldn’t be pushable
Reduced initial push timer
Rebuilt and restored pit edge gravity; this had gotten lost somewhere in the years. You won’t fall instantly anymore! You can escape the pits! I actually simplified this pretty drastically - instead of autogenerating killzones and checking various collision points, I just gave the player coyote time.
Fixed lots of pits’ fall targets, so you shouldn’t fall into walls anymore.
Made save and settings paths explicit (you probably won’t notice a difference)
Added some collision in the dining room to prevent jumping off ledges into walls
Fixed the solution for the dining room so you wouldn't get stuck in the kitchen door by the blocks yeeting themselves back to their starting positions
Fixed camera region rebuild logic (the "rooms" you see in game) so that it wouldn't show off the edge of the adjacent room
Fixed invisible darts and dart launchers (I don't actually know what went wrong here, I had to recreate the sprites)
Added danger zones for safe respawns - now you can't get trapped in the kitchen (as easily?)
Fixed some twitchy block pushing
Hopefully this helps and makes y'all's experience more fun. Thanks to everyone who reported and for your patience.
