With the year coming to a close, and looking back where it all started, I felt it was apropriate for this month's event to be all about how certains part of the game used to look like in alpha versions besides a development update for those who might be interested!
The Main Hall

I could say without a shadow of a doubt that the cathedral has seen a lot of change during the development, you could see on an early version without lighting how it all used to look quite gray, including the benches.
In the first image the NPCs were just placeholder assets and there was not really any implementation yet, even if you were clearly in the sunlight you wouldn't really get hurt either!
The Altar

Can you see it? Yes! The catacombs couldn't be accessed from here, but you can still see the resemblance from the first two images to the version we have today, including the not so glamorous view of a coffin on top of the table!
The Praying Woman

Gotta say, sucks to have your own room completely removed in exchange for a crappy corner of a cathedral. Now it actually makes sense that she is praying for someone else! I have to say that it's incredible she survived this long, couldn't say the same thing for some other npcs...
The Library

For those who played the demo you will not recognize this place, but if you have been seeing our posts in other social media sites such as bluesky or tiktok you will recognize it. You used to have access to the library at the very beginning and it would act as the tutorial for one of the vampire powers, but that was scrapped in order to appear later in the game.
But Wait! There's more!
Don't think this is all over! As a treat to celebrate christmas and the new years (yes, a bit too early) We've decided to also record a video showcasing in detail how one of the iterations looked like!
Keep in mind that this version is extremely old and was only meant for internal purposes.
How's the development going?
Before we end this news event I would like to share a little update on the game. We have been slowly working on optimization (around 40%), but we had a problem: all the areas have lost a bit of the magic it used to have on the demo, so we are working to reintroduce some lighting and effects to keep the original look.
We're also set on the areas you'll be able to explore, but we might still tweak a few things, like moving furniture or adding a small room. The ones seen in the demo though will be exactly as you remember, since those areas are 100% settled in.
Additionally Meri, one of our programmers has been working on a way to update the input buttons. So now if you switch input they will swap accordingly!

And that's all for this months news event. Thank you so much for sticking with us!
Here at Thruster Games we would all like to wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year!
