Hello everyone,
We have some fun news to share. From this moment on our new developments for Vanguard Galaxy can be closely followed by playing the open beta. We plan to release weekly or biweekly, depending on when features are far enough along to present them to you. For the live version we will of course keep looking for issues that need fixing to keep the experience there as stable as possible.
To take part go to settings for Vanguard Galaxy and select the open beta in the dropdown as shown below.
Save games saved while in the open beta version will not be backward compatible with the live version until the moment that live catches up with the beta version.
Our first release on the beta channel is version 0.7.1. Detailed patch notes can be found below. But we want to highlight a few of the bigger features here.
Drones
Drone bays have been reworked to allow you to select a mix of types to bring with you. This will make drone builds more flexible and allow you to be ready for any challenge you find on your adventures.
We're curious to see what you can do with these little friends. And more to come to improve them further.
Structural Salvage
Another big change in this update is the addition of structural salvage. The Grinder turret can pull a salvageable ship in and salvage its internals. We hope you salvagers out there enjoy this one.
New ships
This update adds a few new ships for you to enjoy as well.
- Cyclone-Class Corvette (Akai Armory)
- Tempest-Class Frigate (Akai Armory) Seen below
- Osprey-Class Medium Salvager (Akai Armory)
We hope you like Vanguard Galaxy as much as we do and are looking forward to feedback from you. Let us know on the steam forums or drop by our Discord and join the fun. Join the Vanguard Galaxy Discord
Cheers,
Bat Roost Games
Patch notes for 0.7.1
Fixes
- Fixed combat station dronebay colliding with ships
- Fixed some background errors that could lead to huge log files
- Hands Off The Hull no longer triggers for drones
- Fixed some dronebays still having a unintended collider
- Fixed duplicate subsector names appearing in new games
- "Construct Drone Schematics" name changed to "Constructor Drone Schematics"
Balance
- Autopilot reputation reward lowered
- Adjusted crafting materials needed to craft higher rarity items
- Ship Range Bonus per type lowered
Added/Changed
- Beginning of the Drone rework! Drones no longer have an associated type. Instead, you can mix and match drones to your liking! Set up your drone loadout in the Personal Hangar.
- Start of Drone rebalancing. Before, drones were far too powerful as they weren't integrated with the damage calculation system. They may feel a bit weak now. We'll keep an eye on it.
- Drones now inherits the "hull bonus" of their commander (mining / salvage / combat power)
- Added Drone Power to random stats distribution on equipment
- Added dronebay blueprints to be found
- Changed some drone sprites
- Switch texture filtering based on zoom level (to prevent "pop in" and jittering on sprite edges)
- Combatants no longer target ships while they're still warping in
- Added previously hidden hull/armor/shields multiplier to the ship type tooltip (hangar / shipyard)
- Engines are off when going through a jumpgate
- Ship with a higher mass will not be yeeted out of gate
- Having a Yield above 100% will create additional loot instead of just being wasted
- A piece of equiment with multiple bonuses of the same type (e.g. +30 combat power and +7 combat power) are listed separately instead of added up
- Added a chance of enemy miners spawning in asteroid fields (non mining claim)
- Added an option to the autopilot to stop it from automatically travelling. Plus hotkey (ctrl + T). Loot!
- Added small 'info' marker to the ship name in Shipyard / Personal Hangar, to emphasize the presence of an informational tooltip
- Added a "Return to Orsanon Security" portal to bounty missions once completed
- New Ship: Cyclone-Class Corvette (Akai Armory)
- New Ship: Tempest-Class Frigate (Akai Armory)
- New Ship: Osprey-Class Medium Salvager (Akai Armory)
- Buy Ship Confirmation popup
- Added the option to sell ships (not the last one!)
- Added mission difficulty to mission overview/board
- Escort ship will jump away on unloading all cargo
- Added Structural salvage turrets and structural salvageables
Known issues
- Autopilot and running missions doesn't always work well with core or structural turrets. This will be improved in the near future.
- The Salvage Laser Drone is now wrongly named Salvage Harpoon Drone. This will be rectified soon :)
