New Discord & Youtube^
A dream we’ve always had is someone playing our game, talking through their playthrough, and posting it to YouTube. A YouTuber named Yig actually did that, and it was one of the coolest (and most stressful) things we’ve experienced. Watching someone play your game and talk about it in real time is somehow scarier than receiving feedback after the fact. We just wanted to take a moment and give a really big and special thanks to him. He actually showed people how to start our game after figuring it out himself, which was amazing and we couldn’t be more grateful.
Before we move on to the patch notes, we also want to mention that we have a new Discord ready for everyone. You can speak directly to us and let us know what you think of the game, what you want to see, and what you don’t. We’ll try to be quick with our responses as well.
Now we can talk about the patch. This one is focused on polish and clarity, as well as addressing a few issues and expectations people have. It focuses on enemy behavior, audio settings, a ton of bug fixes, and the game economy. We noticed a lot of players really enjoy creating villagers and letting them do the gathering work, so we’re going to lean into that a bit more with this patch. We’re also going to fix the music that never plays. Thanks for being with us through our growth. Starting next patch, you’ll begin to see bigger updates like more controller support, new defenses, and a lot more.^
Patch Notes - Demo v0.5.3
New
Discord
We have a new discord channel ready to join. You can find the link above.^
Environment
We really want to make the game itself look better and more diverse, so our first step is to introduce more 3D models and give them different gameplay mechanics.
A new second tree is now available to be chopped down
This tree has 5x more wood than normal trees
Underground Check
It’s rare, but we’ve seen it happen once or twice where you perform an action (especially during the death animation) and the game pushes you through the ground for an infinite fall. We’re fixing that with a small checker.
A new underground check is introduced and will lift a hero up if they happen to slip through the ground
Battle Music
We’ll treat this as a new feature since the music has been broken since the release of the demo (sorry about that). With this patch, things should be fixed.
3 music tracks, chosen at random, will now play when enemies spawn
Tutorial
The game can still be a bit confusing in the early stages, so we’re adding more changes that should add clarity.
Added a new "Press" button above the first few trees.
Added a new "Press" button above the first few gold mines.
These are distance based and will be hidden until close
Adjusts visible key press to current input
New UI
We’re continuing to improve the UI with each patch. This time we’re getting rid of the not so great looking Quit to Desktop screen.
New Quit to desktop screen
Pause Game
Just a fundamental feature that slipped past us. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
Players can now pause the game in solo and multiplayer
If one player pauses the game, it pauses it for everyone
Changes
Villager
We know how much players enjoy purchasing and using villagers, so we really want to encourage this, since this is one of our favorite parts of the game.
We made it so that villager houses are now purchasable on the 3rd crystal level up
Reduced the cost of the 2nd villager house from 35 -> 25 wood
Added an additional villager house at level 3 for 25 wood
Enemy Balance
The goal is to make the Treant minion more relevant so we’re going to make it easier for it to keep up with its allies a bit.
Treant movespeed increased from 100 -> 175
Increased Horror boss Ultimate ability cooldown from 3 -> 20 seconds
Increased Horror boss Green ability cooldown from 10 -> 15 seconds
Hero Balance
Battle Archer
Increased health from 15 -> 17
Battle Soldier
Increased health from 20 -> 25
Derek's Backup: Rocket Launcher
Increased Attack Range from 2000 -> 3000
Increased Vision Range from 2000 -> 3000
Player Balance
Increased interaction range around trees from 175 -> 185
In Game
Health bars on trees are now distance based and will hide when players are far away
Health bars on gold mines are now distance based and will hide when players are far away
Sound

Main Menu music applies when the game ends
Main Menu music starts after all enemies are defeated
SFX
Added impact particle to Lieutenant Death particles when colliding with walls
Added impact particle to Lieutenant Death particles when expiring
Fixes
Sound
Sound is a tricky one. We feel there are a few rules that all games need to follow, though. The first is that the game’s sound should not ruin your day on first open. The second is that the game should obey the volume limits that the player sets. We’re going to fix both here.
Fixed an issue with navigation buttons in settings not respecting the volume limits of the UI class.
Fixed sound defaults being set to 100% on first load
Master default is reduced from 100% to 50%
Music default is reduced from 100% to 20%
Ambient default is reduced from 100% to 75%
UI default is unchanged (100%)
SFX default is unchanged (100%)
Fixed sound settings not being created and saved on first load
Fixed Battle music never starting
Enemies
Fixed all enemies showing their attachment point (It should have been hidden)
Fixed the Death minion ironically not playing its death animation
Fixed the Death minion not being able to spawn without being enraged
Fixed The Treant minion being able to get enraged when approached by heroes
Fixed the Death minion not being able to get enraged when approached by heroes
Fixed bosses getting stuck behind walls and firing infinitely
Fixed Horror boss chance to fire additional fireballs (Was 99% chance, is now 20%)
In Game
Fixed a rogue tree being off map and causing pathing issues for workers
Fixed revive not lifting the hero above the ground
Fixed tree stumps not being cleaned up in-between levels
Fixed another rogue tree hanging out on the map
General UI
Fixed being able to click through the settings screen
Fixed the loading screen getting stuck after pausing the game and returning to the title screen
SFX
Fixed the wood cut particle not playing
This covers all of the changes between the last patch and this one. Thanks for all of your feedback, videos, and general support. We’re keeping a close eye on how the game evolves and will continue to do our best to make the game more fun over time. Thank you so very much for playing our game. We really appreciate it a lot.^^
