Hello everyone!
Zap Colony is part of Steam Tower Defense Fest, and the demo has just received a major update!

The biggest change is a completely rebuilt tutorial. One of the most common issues players had with the previous version was understanding the game’s core rule: tower color must match enemy color. For example, if you want to target red enemies, you need to supply the tower with red energy.
Because of that, I reworked the opening experience from the ground up:
information is introduced in a clearer order,
the tutorial now includes a progress checklist,
and Yodel the Wise steps in whenever the player starts going off track.
I hope this makes the rules easier to understand, faster to access, and with less frustration.

This update also includes a number of smaller improvements and bug fixes, including:
a quick restart option in the in-game menu, so you can restart a run instantly without going back to the main menu,
various UI improvements,
and other polish and fixes throughout the demo.
I’ve also uploaded a new video showing a full playthrough of the first map with no commentary, in case you’d like to see how the early game is supposed to flow:
As before, the demo still includes a survey when you exit the game, and I’d really love your feedback, especially on the new tutorial / onboarding and the game balance.
If you try the demo and enjoy it, two things help a lot during the festival:
leave a review for the demo on Steam
wishlist the full game if you like it
Every bit of feedback helps me improve Zap Colony, and every wishlist makes a real difference.
Thanks for playing! ❤️
