Hello everyone!
First off, we're nearly at 500 Reviews which is just incredible. If you have taken the time to leave us a quick review we appreciate it immensely!
As we progress through Early Access, one of the things we're always paying attention to is balancing, especially against Death in Standard Mode.
We read all your comments and monitor the data daily - and we saw Death was still hitting a little too high a ceiling in his opening turns, especially in the later rounds of a run.
Balancing the game is always a precise matter, and we'd rather go piece by piece than be heavy handed to maintain the challenge of the game. Eternity will be seeing more significant changes as we head into the new year, but for Standard we identified a key change that should have a big impact on the more frustrating of Death's turns.
One thing stood out clearly as both a too-high power spike, and an incredibly frustrating occurrence to play against. What we're talking about is Death's Lucky and Luckier Dice providing far too much stability to his low-dice rolls later on in the game, especially when they paired with each other, and could even do so multiple times.
To combat this, we've come up with and tested the following change, and believe it feels much better while maintaining his Dice advantage:
- Death's Lucky Dice now holds only Odd Numbers
- Death's Luckier Dice now holds only Even Numbers
By doing this, they can no longer pair with one another, as well as being overall less likely to form pairs or better with his riskier rolls.
We'll keep an eye on how this feels, so let us know in the comments!
Hope you all had a great holiday period, and Happy New Year,
Connagh & Joel
