2015.07.09: Floor Shuffling and Balancing

The checkpoints have changed up the balance quite a lot; I've received loads of great feedback from players over the last 24 hours, and I've taken it to heart. This update scales back hero wave strength and champion rates, among other things designed to tip the scales back in players' favor. Balancing mechanics remains a top priority, and I treasure your input!

This update also adds the ability to move floors up and down. The Sanctum and checkpoint floors are immovable, but all other floors can be shuffled to your heart's desire--so long as your heart desires two less of each resource. You can move floors with battles on them, or try to scoot back a lone hero that is nearing your Sanctum, but it does add up. I know many of you have been wanting this feature to help re-organize your legacied floors.

There are a bunch of additional fixes, tweaks, and improvements here--everything I could manage to squeeze into the last 24 hours. Thank you, everyone :totbacon:!

Changelog

Additions:

  • Floor shuffling (costs two of each resource per move)
  • Tutorial entries for hoard refills and checkpoint floors
  • New message pops when a checkpoint floor has been built

Changes:

  • Hero wave strength diminished
  • Basal hero champ rate diminished
  • Heroes don't automatically get promoted at checkpoints; they have a greater chance if they've seen combat and lived to tell about it
  • Bumped population counts up by one (lots more minions at high levels, so there are fewer empty floors with heroes walking straight through them)
  • Reduced many prophecy requirements (especially early ones, so initial content unlocks more quickly)
  • Added item requirement to prophecies that had item use objectives (so they won't appear unless you have the right item)
  • Dwarven-slaying prophecy objective now refers to all dwarf heroes (not just fighters)
  • All hero names now follow the format "dwarf/elf/gnome x" rather than "dwarven/elven/gnomish x"
  • Tutorial entries always pause the game (with two necessary exceptions)--previously, tutorials only paused on Casual Mode
  • Tweaks to increase character movement speeds--particularly in combat
  • Elevator AI changes
  • Rendering performance improvements
  • Minor cosmetic changes to the cellar and catacombs
  • Small UI color and wording changes

Fixes:

  • Could click Hoard Refill through some UI elements
  • Music track selection bug
  • Corrected some tutorial text
