Major Development Update for HackOS
We’re excited to share a major development update on HackOS — and give you a clearer look at the future of the project.
To deliver the quality and depth HackOS deserves, we’ve decided to move the Early Access release to 2026. This wasn’t an easy decision, but it allows us to fully realize our expanded vision for the game and ensure a polished, stable, and feature-rich experience from day one.
The Game Has Evolved
During development, HackOS evolved far beyond our original plans.
We are officially transitioning from a pure singleplayer experience to an asynchronous multiplayer structure — while still keeping optional singleplayer for those who prefer playing solo.
This new direction opens up exciting gameplay possibilities:
Compete or collaborate through persistent world actions
Influence the global digital ecosystem even when you’re offline
Leave traces, consequences, and opportunities for other players
Enjoy a dynamic world shaped by community-driven interactions
We can’t wait to show you more in early 2026, including a closed beta in fall of 2026!
A Complete UI Overhaul
The entire interface of HackOS has undergone a major overhaul.
Our goal: better usability, clearer navigation, sharper visuals, and an experience that feels modern without losing its hacker-sim identity.
The new UI is cleaner, faster, more responsive — and a significant leap forward from earlier builds.

Under the Hood Improvements
Under the hood, we’ve rewritten and optimized major systems:
Faster mission generation
Improved network simulation
More efficient sandbox logic
Better performance across all hardware targets
These improvements will help support both the expanded multiplayer vision and long-term modding capabilities.
We know delays can be disappointing, but we’re confident this decision leads to a better, more ambitious version of HackOS — one worthy of your expectations.
Your enthusiasm drives us, and we’ll continue sharing development updates as we move forward.
See you in the terminal 👾
