⚠️Next Update: Will include fixes for known issues and giving players the freedom to experiment with different moves and parts.
The first Ironweld demo was released around 5 months back. Since then there have been many changes applied to the main source code (+100 commits) which deserves to be pushed to the demo for the public to try it out.
Update Notes:
Character Visuals: Shifted from using normal maps for realism to a cel-shaded style.
Enemy AI: Foes range from idle/defensive to fast/aggressive and those focused purely on eliminating the player.
Telegraphing Attacks: Enemies' sprite flash white before attacking. But not always.
Combat Overhaul: The new demo introduces a deep combat loop. Build EN with combos for Special Attacks. Simultaneously, all attacks build Power, which enables new Moves. Spend your Power ⚡ strategically on Super Moves or a high-cost Hyper Move.
Temperature: Your mech heats up, and if you exceed the limit, you will damage yourself, you can cooldown by doing nothing, or running, or countering. Attacking too fast doesn't mean better. You have to feel the rhythm.
Input Buffering: During combat, your input gets buffered a bit so it will feel more responsive than before.
Utility Moves: In the demo, we showcase one of the early utility move, which is a Heal, that restores your HP.
QoL Updates: Including key binding, FPS limit, resolution, vsync
Known Issues:
Onboarding can be skipped, which might lead to player not knowing combat keybindings. Additionally, the combat tutorial is a bit lacking.
Standing on checkpoints doesn't show button prompt.
Unable to select the other 2 characters, the character UI selection doesn't highlight which character is selected.
There is a game breaking bug that needs to be fixed. 😅
Unable to select other languages.
