🎮 Steam Deck Update: Controller Support + Cloud Saves
Hi everyone!
This update is a big step toward making Medieval Startup much more comfortable to play on Steam Deck (and fully playable with a controller in general).
And because it’s also a real “core” update, you’re getting a breeding rework + a new save system with cloud saves as a bonus.
🔥 New content
Controller support: movement + interactions + UI navigation
Automatic switching (keyboard/mouse ↔ controller)
Steam Deck: compatibility in progress + Steam Deck Verified process currently under review
I need your feedback: if you play on Steam Deck, tell me what still feels “not natural” (menus, inventory, chest, text input…). I’ll keep polishing based on your feedback.
New save system
Saves sorted by date (your most recently played save is shown first)
Up to 40 save slots
Cloud Saves
Added UI sounds
New breeding system for chickens and rabbits
🛠️ Fixes & balancing
Dualities removed
Gifts of Nature and Agriculture are now integrated into the global upgrade tree
Balancing: recipes + item prices
Social reputation gain from servers reworked
Servers now have a 25% chance to earn social reputation, and the amount depends on their skill level
Drinks now have a 75% chance to grant social reputation
New hunting system to capture rabbits + fixes for rabbits disappearing under the environment
Various UI improvements
Game and NPC AI optimizations
Flattened terrain around the tavern to make it easier to place worker houses
❤️ Thanks for your feedback
Your feedback on the duality system and the game in general helps me keep improving Medieval Startup in the right direction. Thanks again for your messages on the Steam forums and Discord. I take the time to read every message, and I hope you can feel it through the updates.
If you have 30 seconds: a Steam review helps a lot to get the game noticed.
See you soon in the swamp,
