Hey it's Rocco again with another weekly blog!
In today's update, we're showing you some of the VFX we've been producing over the past few weeks and are implementing into the Alpha of the game for the upcoming Kickstarter.
Let's dive right in!
Summon VFX
The idea behind the summon VFX is that the cards digitally manifest on the battlefield as if they are playing a combat simulator.

Ability Keyword VFX
This is an active keyword and activates after the Gear card is summoned, highlighted by that bright brimming aura and glow.

Attack VFX
Emulating a battlefield - we wanted to design an attack VFX that emulates a powerful, and destructive impact, to really show the "clash" between two Gears on the field.

Attack Up VFX
We utilized the upward movement of the aura and line-work to emulate the attack up buff. Pretty straightforward.

Attack Down
Similar to the Attack Up VFX, we utilized downward movement of the aura and line-work to emulate the attack up buff.

Zone Indicator
Here's a simple zone outline to highlight the Gear and Utility zones respectively from left to right.

Player Turn Indicator VFX
Below are the turn indicators for P1 (blue) and your opponent (red).

We decided heavily on having scifi styled shards be utilized across our VFX and other visuals - think of it as our signature.
Combining the digital shards with aura effects, we get the scifi-fantasy aesthetic and feel that fits the Gear Slayer identity.
If you enjoyed these VFX, wait till you see what's in the works and what our team is adding in next, so stay tuned to the upcoming update, be sure to wishlist us Steam, follow our socials, join the discord community, and follow our Kickstarter!
