Hello Dino lovers, Clawed community, T-rex trackers (we really need a community name)
Its Tim here from FDG and welcome to our first dev update for Clawed. There will be quite a few of these coming over the next few weeks and we are very excited to be able to share new info about Clawed.
But before all that, we want to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you.
The amount of love and support we have received with this game has blown us away.
Clawed has been a real passion project and the amount of emails, messages, social media clips and just love for this game has been completely unexpected.
So again, thank you.
So i've got some info on the game i'm going to share here. I hope you enjoy, and yes if you have a question please ask. It takes a bit of time to get back, but we will.

Is the game real????
This one is a bit of a fun joke, but it actually amazed us just how many comments or messages we received wondering if the trailer is staged or a mockup of some kind.
So, let me clear this all up now!
Everything in the trailer was taken from gameplay capture from a build of the game at the time.
In fact, the T-rex chasing the Tram was not even planned. That shot came by accident during the testing session. The planned shot was to get the Tram entering the Mosa Aquarium, but we had not realized the rex was nearby, and as soon as she saw Hudson, the chase was on.
The other notable thing in the trailer was that the bullets made little impact on the dinos when shot.
Rest assured, this is not the case. Timing is a funny thing, as the long story short is - we had a bug with our hit reactions and did not have enough time to fix before our capture sessions.
So, as you will see in our next trailer, the reactions are physics based and are back in :)

What is Clawed like to play?
Well, simply put, this is an action/adventure mixed with Survival/Horror.
Its feels like RE2 remake in the way there are puzzles, inventory management and at times - it will make you sweat and shiver. However, this not a pure horror game, this game is scary because sometimes dinosaurs are scary. Being trapped in a dark tunnel as a raptor's call echoes down the hall will send shivers down your spine.
On the other side, there are time where you will be exploring Herbivore Haven - one of the largest enclosures in the game - and it's just fun to see the dinos out in the environment, doing what they do.
Lastly, this in an open-world park. You will need to figure out how to reach certain areas, find the right keys or access cards and be equipped for what may be waiting for you. There are multiple routes through the park, so it's up to you to find them.

There are multiple modes
In our current trailer, all the footage is from the main campaign (which can also be played in Co-op with up to 3 friends). However, there are two other modes that Clawed will also have at launch.
Tourist Mode
In tourist mode, you and up to 3 friends will be able to explore Prehistoria as an open zoo. You can take the tours, feed the brachiosaurus, buy souvenirs, and explore the park to your hearts content.
There is more to this mode, however, we will have an upcoming post about this mode with a lot more info.
The Wilds
In the Wilds, you and up to 3 friends will be deployed to an island where wild dinosaurs live and roam. Your goal will be to make money for your corporation. Explore the island, tranquilize dinos, recover artifacts, dino eggs and much more. Sell your discoveries back at your camp and buy new gear to help you bring in greater rewards.
As with tourist mode, our plan is to do an upcoming blog post about this mode with a lot more info.

Are there going to be microtransactions??
No.
Buy the game, it is yours. We are gamers ourselves, we get it, and any cosmetics, or updates will be free.
DLC?
There are currently no plans for a paid DLC, but a DLC model we feel is more respectful to the player base and would consider it IF we have an idea that we think respects the extra cost to the player. However, we really want the base game to feel like a complete experience, so it would have to be a large expansion for us to consider it. It would also be run by the community to ensure it would be of interest to Clawed players. Again, there are no plans for this right now.
Will there be a demo?
Yes. There will be. Soon.

So, is that release window just a place holder?
No. No it is not.
As a studio, we are quite new. We have two games in development, and we tried to learn from each of them. Truthfully, our other game In The Dragon's Wake was maybe announced too early (Just being honest) and we learned from it. Maybe too well. So Clawed was kept to ourselves until we thought it was ready to be shown.
So, the current plan of Q2 is still in place, - its late Q2 for sure, but it is not a place holder.
We are not ready yet to discuss the date until we are certain the game is ready. The last thing we want is announce a date and then delay it.
But rest assured the release date will be revealed soon :)
