VI. R E S O L V E
You flex your power with weary focus. From the dirt, a golden lotus grows and gently unfurls. You grasp the bloom and look within.
Your thoughts are pulled to a stormy bluff pitched over a fathomless abyss. Chaotic winds rage all around you, threatening to knock you off your feet. At the edge of the cliff an impossibly long alabaster staircase rises up toward a dark tower far in the distance.
You start to climb. At once, the storm pushes you back. A single step is a battle. You persist all the same.
Step by grueling step, you ascend, pressing on and on toward the looming tower, even as the storm builds and your legs tremble and the biting wind chills your bones. The tempest howls and whips around you, ever intensifying, ever angrier, ever intent on breaking your advance. A sudden gust blows you back, and you tumble all the way down to the bottom, bruised and battered.
You rise. You step forward. You ascend again.
Time and time again, the raging storm blows you back and beats you down. Every time, you rise defiant. Every time, you make it just a little further.
In time, the tower nears. The howl of the wind turns to growling and roaring screams as you inch ever closer. Shadowy hands reach out from the squall to grab at your legs, then your arms, desperate to drag you back. The air feels sharp, wind cutting your skin.
You fight on, crawling, dragging your body forward even as you feel yourself being ripped apart.
You reach out, straining.
For a moment.
Just a moment.
You feel it:
Your fingers graze the edge of the tower.
You pluck the flower with an eager grin. You reach further, search deeper, and hear a name: Serenna. Unyielding hope, unshakable resolve, and a will to pierce the dark. At last, an ending. At last, a champion.
THIS ONE CAN SAVE THE SKY
