Welcome to Wyld Land Beta 2! We're so excited to welcome you back to the Wyld. Note that as before, there will not be a data wipe until the end of the Beta period, and we will have at least one more Beta test after this one. Let's start with the major additions and then we'll cover the smaller changes. New Engine First off, we're rolling out our brand-new client engine for the game, which is based on Heaps.
This engine is built from the ground-up to be lighter and faster so you should see even better performance as well as faster load times. For example, if you're playing in your web browser, the initial download size to get to the login screen has gone down from 14MB to about 2MB! Note that with the new engine in place, you will need to re-bind any keys that you have changed from the default! We welcome your feedback on the new engine, and let us know if you run into any bugs or other issues that weren't there before so we can get them fixed ASAP! Using the new engine should be largely seamless, but here are a few quality of life changes that we've added since the last test you might notice:
The Inventory layout has changed, and now if you have the Pack Rat or Bank Rat Echoes unlocked, it's all one long scrollable pane, instead of needing to click through pages.,
The Infusion panel has moved to the top-left when it's open, and hopefully the descriptions of what's going on are now more useful.,
There's a new Status Effects panel on the left-hand side of the screen that will show you all effects on your character as well as their name and remaining duration. In addition, when you have status effects we'll now hide the Nameplate to show the effect icons (since you probably want to know about those more than you want to be reminded about your name!),
Scrolling throughout the UI should feel much better now and work better with mouse scroll wheels. Note that we removed using the mouse scroll wheel to switch weapons, use Tab or the 1, 2, and 3 keys (or setup your own keys in the Keybinds).
There are now unique tile sets for the Dungeons in the game, and you'll see those when entering the dungeon. Note that each tile set is shared among ~3 dungeons right now, but we're going to work on adding more to the game!,
Chat messages now fade from view after a short period of time, and will re-appear when you focus the Chat Input.,
The Stamina bar for the player has been re-worked and is now easier to see and appears below the player as a straight bar with segments rather than a radial bar.,
Dungeon entrances will now show the number of players that are in the dungeon currently, as well as the max players allowed in that dungeon. For Raids, it's 6 players, for other dungeons, it's 30 players.,
The Raid
Our first Raid content, titled for now simply The Raid, is available in this test. Raids are the most challenging content in the game, and we're designing them to require a coordinated group that's willing to communicate and work together to overcome them. We want Raid content to feel difficult but fair, and we look forward to receiving your feedback about where we're hitting or missing the mark in that regard. A few important things to note before you jump in (seriously, please read this):
Raid content is designed for 6 players. The fights have mechanics that expect this number of players. If you attempt to go into the Raid with fewer than 6 players, you will likely be unable to complete them.,
Raid content has mechanics that if done improperly will kill you. We highly recommend that until you understand the fights and what is required from the mechanics, you do not risk your best gear.,
In order to access the Raid, you must complete all of the quests from the NPCs in Haven, starting with the Elio Voss quest chain (which you may have already completed in the last test, if so talk to "Ghost", the guy with all the masks in the bottom of Haven).,
After you've completed those quests, you'll be able to get a Raid Portal Doohickey from Ezekiel Thornwood whenever you'd like. Using that will spawn a Raid portal just like any other dungeon.,
However, if you try to access the Raid portal (even if someone else spawns it) and you haven't completed those quests, you will be unable to enter the Raid. You must be "Attuned" to the raid to access it. So keep that in mind.,
Right now the Raid has two bosses. You must complete the first boss in order to unlock the pathway to the second boss. Each boss has a new unique Exotic item that can drop as well as a mini-pet you can acquire. Note that the Exotic chances on the Raid bosses are higher than those on normal bosses since you can't just farm them repeatedly (see below).,
A note on Raid Lockouts and Loot:
The game keeps track of what bosses in the Raid you have killed this week. You only get one loot chance per week per boss, regardless of how many times you kill the boss. So you can help others by killing the boss multiple times, but you yourself can only get one chance at loot (the first time each week you kill it). This is known as your Raid Lockout.,
In addition to that, if you spawn the Raid portal and enter it, and if you've already killed the first boss, the first boss will already be dead in the Raid, and the pathway to the second boss will be open. If others then join your Raid portal, that's what they'll see as well. (Essentially, the Raid Lockout of the person who spawns the portal is what determines what bosses are available in the Raid to start).,
The person who spawned the Raid portal also has to be present in the Raid and participate in the kill when a boss dies in order for the next pathway to open.,
Raid Lockouts reset each week at 12:01AM US Central Time Monday morning.
Collections Screen
New in this test is the Collections Screen (J). This is a handy place where we now store all of the various collectibles you can unlock in the game, including Pets, Dashes, Teleports, Titles, and Exotics.
Now for Pets, Dashes, and Teleports, when you receive the item, just hold down the Q key to use it and it will be added to your Collection and unlocked permanently.,
Bring up the Collections Screen with J to view all of your available choices. You can see all of the ones available in the game, including ones you haven't yet acquired. If you haven't yet unlocked it, it will be faded. If you have unlocked it, just click on it to equip it!,
Exotics work a little differently. You "unlock" them as soon as you get them for the first time in-game by looting them. Until then, they will be shown with "???" to show that you don't know about them yet. Clicking on an Exotic on this screen doesn't equip it, you still do that in your inventory.,
So now the Collections Screen can act not only as a handy place to choose what cosmetics to equip, it's also a place to see what you haven't yet discovered in-game -- so get out there and do some looting!,
Crafting
New in this test is the Crafting System (U)! The Crafting System adds a new dimension to Wyld Land by giving you ways to get guaranteed drops from bosses as well as replace Exotics you might have...ahem...accidentally...lost during your adventures. In the future we may also add additional crafting recipes such as potions which give a temporary boost to your stats.
To access the Crafting Menu, just press the U key. You'll see a list of Recipes that as well as their requirements.,
Recipes require ingredients from a variety of sources, including world drops (such as Wyld Essence), boss-specific drops, harvestables (now found throughout the Overworld), and fish. Explore everywhere to find everything you need!,
In addiiton to crafting Wyld Luck-type items, each boss in the game now has a Favor, which is a special type of Luck item specific to that boss. By collecting a large number of the boss-specific drop as well as other rare ingredients, you can craft e.g. Destructor's Favor. You can use this item after killing the Destructor and you will be guaranteed to get a drop off of its specific loot table for an item with a <15% chance of dropping (so basically, pets and exotics). This can be used to supplement your normal grind on that boss to give you a higher chance of getting that rare loot.,
If you have unlocked an Exotic item in the Collections screen, you will also find a recipe for it in the Crafting screen. Again, crafting it will require a large number of the boss-specific drop for the boss that drops that item, as well as other rare ingredients -- but this now gives you a path so you can recover your Exotic items that you might have lost without needing to rely solely on grinding the boss and hoping for your luck to come through.,
Wyld Luck, Refined Wyld Luck, and and Corrupted Wyld Luck no longer drop from monsters but instead are now craftable items.,
In addition, now every boss in the game has a unique boss drop that you can collect when you kill that boss. Note that these are more likely to drop when taking on the boss at higher levels.,
Armor Parts and Weapon Parts now drop more frequently when you destroy your unneeded weapons and armor, but you'll get more if you are destroying higher-rarity, higher-tier gear.,
In the future, we anticipate that some of these items, such as Wyld Essence, Refined Wyld Essence, and Armor and Weapon Parts, will be tradable, but the trading system isn't quite in yet. Stay tuned!
Fishing
New in this test is the Fishing system. Now all of the water throughout Wyld Land is teeming with fish just waiting for you to catch shoot them! To begin, open up your Crafting screen and create a Fishing Lure. Then, just equip that lure to your Active Item slot, go near some water, and use the item. The lure will be used up from your inventory, and then a short while later, fish will start flying up! Shoot them to catch them and put them into your inventory.
Note that the lure you are using, the type of biome your are in, as well as the tier of that biome all affect what fish are available to catch.,
There are currently 5 fish types in the game, with plans to add more!,
Your lure is used up when you fish, but if you have a lot of lures in your inventory, we'll pull from your inventory first so you don't have to keep re-equipping your lure until you're out of them.,
Craft higher-level lures luke the Advanced Lure and the Wyld Lure to catch rarer fish like the Volcano Trout!,
Achievements
The Achievements Screen (Y) has received an overhaul as part of the new engine release. In particular, you should now find it easier to quickly navigate the large list of Acheievements, with an overall indicator of progress for ones you're workign on, as well as a button to click to show additional details if you want to drill-down and check progress on a specific one. Note that once you have Claimed an Achievement Reward, if that reward includes a Title, you now equip the Title from the Collections Screen, not the Achievements screen. Tuning Changes We've made some changes to the game's tuning, including:
New Elite versions of many mobs, including Bomb Bot, Assassin, Heavy Slicer, and others have been added to the game. You will see these versions of the enemies in higher-tier areas of the Overworld, higher-tier dungeons, and Corrupted Dungeons.,
The Double-Barrel Shotgun now correctly has a maximum distance the bullets will travel similar to other shotguns.,
The Leech spike has been changed. Now instead of healing you when you deal damage, this Spike grants a chance to attach Digital Leeches to enemies. These are little green flashing things that will fall off the enemies when you attack them, and then after a short time explode, dealing damage to all enemies nearby.,
We now have the ability to specify that Spikes should only be available for certain gun archetypes. In particular, the Deadly Accuracy and Refundable Spikes will no longer function for Shotguns and Rocket Launchers. If you have existing guns with those Spikes, they will simply do nothing now; those spikes will no longer appear on drops for those weapons moving forward.,
The amount of damage absorbed by Pain Converter has been reduced from 50% to 35%.,
The potency of the heal from Frenemies has been reduced by about 20%.,
Miscellaneous
There is a new status effect icon that will show for bosses when they are in an invulnerable phase. You will see it appear above the boss as well as on the boss' healthbar at the top of the screen.,
Fixed a bug where the Bomb Bot wasn't exploding properly even when it got close to you.,
The Summoner enemy has been reworked, with a new sprite for the Summoner as well as its minions, as well as an attack of its own to keep you on your toes. Also, the Ghouls that the Summoner creats should no longer be unable to attack you near walls.,
Reworked some of the server-side bullet collision logic which should allow us to have a lot more enemies on-screen at once firing at the player.,
The Alpha Grind achievement is no longer available to be earned if you didn't already complete it previously.
