Scyrons!
Following up on our very first, Discord exclusive, Technical Test for EverSiege: Untold Ages at the end of June (this one), we feel like we owe you an update.
But before we jump into a bunch of technical and less technical information, a big “Thank You!” to everyone that took time out of their busy schedules to play EverSiege in its early stage and share their impressions with us! It was truly great to talk to and exchange with all of you!
And now, let’s get to that technical test.
The goal & result of the Technical Test
The main goal of this first technical test was to ensure a smooth gaming experience from start to finish. This included the general stability of the game, but also ongoing, frictionless communication with our servers for telemetric, anonymized data & future matchmaking. All very important for our planned play sessions.
It was also a great first test run for our Discord server structure, required resources and direct communication with players.
And what we can say for sure is, on all these terms, that the Technical Test was a great success. More than that even; because we had the pleasure of getting to know a great bunch of you people.

Feedback & Bugs
While playing and testing on a pre-alpha build, placeholders, bugs and the occasional crash can of course be experienced.
On these matters, however, our community handled it like real pros. They reported every issue they found and kicked some bad guy-butt at the same time. But not only issues were reported, a lot of testers also shared their impressions on balancing, game feel and more.
Discord user Qknl even went so far to share his little money exploit with us and the other players. No matter real world or EverSiege, nothing more important than a good cash flow, am I rite?

Speaking of impressions, we are more than impressed with the results of this first technical test and are committed on making the most of the shared reports and feedback.
Next steps
With the first Technical Test out of the way, we are now preparing for our very first public playtest.
According to our very own Summer Roadmap said playtest is coming right for us and will actually happen this month! So, you better keep an eye on your inbox if you’ve already registered for our playtests. You don’t want to miss that invite, right?
💡More information on the actual date will be shared soon™️. Be sure to follow us on Steam, Discord or one of our social media channels to not miss the information.
If you have not registered yet, have a look right here and request access. In case you have any questions about the selection process or others, check out the following special playtest FAQ.
Playtest FAQ
What are playtests?
Playtests are timely limited events where a select number of people are granted access to play the game in its current state in order to give feedback, report points of friction and possible major issues.
These sessions also allow the developer to observe how players interact with the game using anonymized telemetry data. Additional surveys can be sent out for dedicated, qualitative feedback.
What is the goal of playtests?
Every playtest will come with a different set of goals which can be anywhere from squashing bugs to tests of core game play or meta progression elements, to simply uncover points of friction.
How can I take part in playtests?
You can register for a chance to be part of the early playtests by clicking on the ‘Request Access’ button on the game’s Steam Store Page.
Please be aware that clicking the ‘Request Access’-button on the store page does not guarantee access. In a sense, clicking the button simply puts your name in the hat.
How do you select who gets invited to a playtest?
While we select the number of players required for the playtest, Steam randomly selects a group of players from the list of registered applicants. It's entirely random.
How do I know that I got invited to a playtest?
You will receive a notification from Steam to the email address linked to your Steam account.
We will also share a notification using the game’s Steam News channel for all playtest details. So, if you want to be sure you’re to remain up to speed, playtest and otherwise, go and click the ‘Follow’ button on our store page.
Does admission to one playtest give you access to all following playtests?
Yes, but you’ll only ever receive an email notification for the first admission. To make sure you won’t miss any following playtest sessions, follow the game’s news.
Will access to a playtest translate into a full copy of the game at Early Access release?
No. On Steam, the playtest application for EverSiege: Untold Ages is a different one than the future full game. The playtest app is only available and usable for the select time frame of the playtests. If you are interested in the game, you’ll still have to purchase it once available.
Will save files from Early Access or playtests remain usable with the full release of the game?
An Early-Access game is in active development and constantly evolving. In some cases, save files from earlier versions may cause unexpected conflicts when used with newer builds. To ensure compatibility, major updates during Early Access may require save file resets. We will always provide advance notice when this is necessary.
Playtest on the other hand will most certainly require a fresh start per playtest period.

And that’s all for now folks.
We’ll leave you with another community picture. This one is Juokoo, from our Discord server, who clearly took the wrong portal, ending up on one of the moons circulating Bastion.
Have a good one, everybody & stay hydrated.
