🎮 [0.26.0] - 2024-06-25 Musical Mayhem Update
🆕 New Features
🎼 Musical Enemies Crescendo
We've revamped how enemies appear throughout your battle!
Now enemies make a proper entrance - each musical note's enemies will be introduced with a stylish announcement when they join the battle
Start with just one enemy type and gradually meet the whole orchestra as difficulty increases
No more facing the entire enemy band from the get-go - you'll have time to learn each enemy's style before meeting the next one
The progression is tied to each song, so you'll always get the same enemy sequence for your favorite tracks
Consider it enemy matchmaking based on your musical taste!
🎯 Precision Kinetic System
Master your energy with surgical precision!
Bursts now ONLY fire when YOU choose - either by manual click or smart auto-fire
Auto-bursts trigger automatically when your energy battery fills during sustained fire
All bursts now laser-target your mouse cursor for pixel-perfect aiming
Continuous fire maintains pressure while building up to devastating full-battery bursts
No more surprise discharges - complete control over your firepower
🌈 Improvements
🎨 Song Color Makeover
We've completely revamped how colors are generated from your music!
Colors are now much more varied and unique for each song
No more getting similar colors for different songs
Smarter color selection ensures UI elements stay clear and readable
Even if a song can't be loaded properly, you'll still get consistent colors based on the filename
Say goodbye to those confusing moments when song colors looked too similar to red/green UI indicators
Your game's color palette will now perfectly complement your musical selections without interfering with gameplay clarity
🌈 Technicolor Projectiles
Enemy projectiles just got a fabulous makeover!
Projectiles now match the color of the enemy that fired them
No more boring white projectiles - now they're as colorful as the enemies themselves
This makes it easier to tell who's shooting at you in the heat of battle
Plus, enemy colors are now more vibrant and eye-catching with maximum saturation
It's like your enemies went shopping for neon paint - and they're not afraid to use it!
🎲 Shapeshifting Hitboxes
Enemies now feel more "real" than ever before!
Enemy hitboxes now perfectly match their visual appearance
Those spiky protrusions? Yep, they'll actually hit you now
No more frustrating moments where you thought you dodged but got hit anyway
Ultra-smooth organic contours instead of blocky angular shapes
The collision feels much more natural and precise
It's like the enemies just got an upgrade to their physical presence in the game world!
🔄 Complete Enemy Spawning Overhaul
We're rebuilding our enemy spawning system from the ground up!
The old music-based enemy spawning system is being replaced with something more exciting
This will give us greater control over enemy progression and difficulty scaling
Expect more interesting enemy patterns and choreographed encounters in future updates
The new system will tie more deeply into game progression and difficulty curves
Stay tuned for more details as we complete this major upgrade!
🖥️ Cleaned Up Game HUD
We've streamlined your in-game display to focus only on what you need most!
Removed all the enemy spawner clutter and boss-related UI elements
Simplified the screen to show just your kinetic energy, time dilation info, level, and heart crystals
No more distracting health and energy sliders taking up your precious screen space
Enjoy a cleaner, more focused view that lets you concentrate on the action
Your game performance might even be a tiny bit better with less UI to render
👾 Enemy Visual System Rework
Behind the scenes, we've completely overhauled how enemies look and animate!
Removed the old sphere-based visual system for something much more exciting (stay tuned!)
Simplified enemy effects for better performance and clearer visual feedback
Paved the way for more dynamic and expressive enemy designs
Don't worry - your enemies will still explode in satisfying ways when defeated!
🌟 Visual Makeover for Your Core
We've given your Core's visual system a serious upgrade!
Each Core component now gets its own unique copy of materials - no more identity crises where one component's color changes affect others!
Added fancy new color controls so your Core components can express themselves with Primary and Secondary colors
Introduced a slick new Pulse effect that makes your Core briefly "flex" before returning to normal - perfect for those "did you see that?!" moments
Added Health visualization directly on your Core - now you can literally see how your Core is feeling!
All these visual bells and whistles work behind the scenes with no performance hit - your Core is now both prettier AND more efficient!
🧠 Smart Shapes System
Your Core components just got a memory upgrade!
Components now store their unique shape identity in memory without actually using it
This "shape memory" is saved for future use by enemy systems - your Core keeps its classic look for now
Each exhaust node still maintains its own consistent, direction-specific seed
This prepares for a future update where enemies will use your shape patterns
Behind the scenes, this makes your Core much smarter about how it manages appearance data
Core components and enemies can now decide independently whether to use stored shape patterns
🌊 Reduced Visual Effects
We've removed the rhythmic pulsing effects from the ground to make the game more accessible and comfortable for all players!
The ground no longer pulses in response to music beats
This change helps reduce potential motion sensitivity issues
Makes the gameplay experience more comfortable for everyone
⚡ Smart Kinetic Discharge
Your kinetic energy system just got smarter!
Automatic bursts now fire when your energy battery fills up during continuous attacks
Bursts now always fire toward your mouse cursor for precise aiming
Continuous fire and automatic bursts work together seamlessly - lay down suppressive fire while building up to big bursts!
🔋 Streamlined Energy Management
Removed automatic emergency braking discharges
Energy system now focuses purely on offensive capabilities
Visual clutter from old direction indicators removed
🏃 Enemy Visual Feedback
Enemies now properly face their movement direction, making their behavior more readable
🌀 Teleportation Effects
Teleporting enemies now show distinct particle effects at both departure and arrival locations
🐛 Fixed Issues
🚫 No More Double Notifications
Fixed an annoying bug where cutting component settings would show you two popup messages - one for cutting and another for copying. Now we'll only bother you once when you cut, just as nature intended!
🕵️ Preset Detective
Your presets "heavy missile", "heavy sniper", "broodmother", and "my child" had gone into hiding, but we've tracked them down! They will now load properly when selected, no more "failed to load" messages getting in the way of your musical mayhem.
⏰ Time-Traveling Presets
Found some of your old presets containing stats from previous versions causing errors? We've taught the preset system to be more adaptable! It will now safely ignore any outdated stats while still applying everything else, ensuring your favorite configurations can stand the test of time.
🔤 Case-Insensitive Genius
Our preset system has become more forgiving about capitalization in stat names. It no longer cares if you wrote "FreeFlightPower" or "freeflightpower" - it'll figure it out! Your presets will load much more reliably no matter how they were saved.
🎬 Start Session Fix
Fixed a bug where the "Start Session" button would stay stubbornly off after you reset everything, even if the session was free. Now it correctly realizes when you can start playing!
🎯 Directional Hint TLC
Removed the confusing kinetic discharge direction indicator since bursts now always follow your mouse cursor. No more mixed signals about where your firepower is headed!
🌈 Teleportation Effect Cleanup
Fixed teleportation effects appearing three times instead of two (departure/arrival)
