August has been the month of combat development for the game. For those of you familiar with my other game series, WarPlan, this will have similar mechanics with different formulas and values.
LAND COMBAT
Multi-hex attacks
Air may come in as ground support
99% of the coastline can be invaded
Artillery phase
Anti-Tank bonus when defending
Retreat bonuses with armor when attacking or defending
Imaged generals can be attached to an HQ
AIR COMBAT
Ability to attack different targets
Fighters can fly as a bomber
Fighters in counters automatically escort their bombers
NAVAL COMBAT
Spotting has been simplified
Ship speed is important for searching
Primary gunnery (11” barrels and larger) + Long Land Torpedo combat round
Secondary gunnery (4” to 8” barrels) + Torpedo combat round
Intercept along the way
Subs alone in a fleet have bonuses to attack
SUPPLY
Has been simplified only using an attribute called Readiness (5-100%)
Readiness is lost each turn when not in supply.
Port supply is simpler. 1 port size supplies 1 land or air unit size of any type
Supply convoys over sea allow for true island hopping and choke points, adding strategic planning in the Pacific
I created many new sound effects for the game.
Moving icons for damage representation during combat.
Each nation has icons for the most common units of different technologies. A separate selection of NATO or colored icon will be available for map resources, land, air, and naval units. Players can have different settings for each category.
Early playtesters are getting quite excited about how the game is turning out. I am hoping to put out a simple land/air demo of the invasion of Poland soon. Many players have asked me if you can play a single country. The answer is yes. You can also PBEM with friends, allowing one person per country or 1 person controlling a group of countries. Players are also allowed to grant access for other players to control their units. For example, if you wanted Italy to control German units in North Africa.
The goal is to go to Beta in September and release Spring or Summer of 2026.
