Hi All! This is the first post for (hopefully) a weekly developer update going forward. I'll talk more about the full game in later posts, but for today I'd like to talk a bit about the upcoming demo for Passant.
Demo Progress
The demo is pretty much complete. I'm testing it currently to make sure there aren't any game breaking bugs and that it's actually fun... The difficulty is making the demo fun for players of all abilities. It needs to be easy enough for beginners/novices to get started, but provide a challenge for experts if they want it.
If you'd like to help test it, I'll be sharing a version of it on discord over the next few days (before a steam version launches at the end of the month).

Demo Difficulty
As it's just a demo, the base game will be set quite easy (as mentioned above), but I will likely provide a challenge mode for experts to stretch themselves once they've completed the demo once. There's also an option in the settings to adjust AI difficulty (which is set to easy by default).
Demo Scope
In terms of scope, the demo will give access to the first 3 stages (out of 5 total + an endless mode in the full game). It'll also have 2 different starting setups, which are the pieces, the modifiers (badges) and the usable items (coins) that you start with.
I'll include all the current badges (game modifiers), which totals around 60 currently. These can be purchased in the store in between matches.
Steam deck compatibility
This is an announcement that Passant will fully support the Steam Deck. I've built the game from the ground up to work on the steam deck and controllers and I've been mainly testing the game this way.
Game Showcase Video
I've been working on a new trailer for the game and accidentally created more of a showcase of some of the badges. You can check it out on youtube below!
