As you may have already noticed, there are six different classes in the game, which are divided into three different factions.
With a simple calculation you can determine that each faction has six units of rank 1 (warrior, archer, trapper, leader, healer and mage). There are twice as many rank 2 units: two warriors, two archers, two sorcerers, and so on.
One rank 2 unit is an ideological extension of a rank 1 unit. For example, the 1st rank Elven Slaughterer and the 2nd rank Wind Dancer are similar in concept and abilities: both have high mobility and the ability to deal splash damage (damage to multiple targets). while the 2nd rank Krongha Guardian, which has the same warrior class, is able to apply a bleed effect, hit two targets through and repel enemies (which is useful for many combinations, which will be discussed in upcoming posts).
There are currently three factions in the game: the Free Empire of Humans, the Mountain Clans of Dwarves, and the Forest Alliance of Elves and Nature Creatures. In addition to the common lore, the units of these factions have a few simple but significant features.
Elves have increased initiative and damage, but low health and low defense. Elven spellcasters, on the other hand, prefer to deal intermittent area damage and lower the stats of enemies (using the spells “Poison Cloud” and “Raging Maze” respectively). The leader mechanic allows you to grow sacred trees for several turns, around which sectors appear, giving various bonuses to Forest Union units and making it difficult for all other units to move. There are certain conditions that must be met in order to get the bonuses, but for now let's give you a little hint - be sure to pair your Nymph with an Ent.
Dwarves of the Mountain Clans, on the other hand, have increased health and high defense. And they also ignore elevation debuffs like hold sectors, so be sure to try these stalwarts in Hold mode. Lots of control and repel/attraction skills, summon magic, aoe control, traps, mass buffs and regeneration make the Mountain Clans the most survivable and adaptive faction. Try surprising your opponent by pulling them in with the Archer's Harpoon on the Engineer's Sleeping Star. We'll tell you more about other combinations that can turn the tide of battle in the future! If you don't tell us about them in the comments.

The Humans of the Free Empire are a cross between the two factions described above. They don't have as much health and defense as dwarves, and they have less mobility and damage than elves. They can't stand out with any of that, but at the same time they don't sag in any aspect. And the individual features and abilities of the units can give a different gaming experience from others. Human shooters, the only ones in the game at the moment, have abilities with AOE damage. Leaders and warriors, following the concept of the faction, are something between elves and dwarves (there are mobile and powerful Gladiators of rank 2 and tenacious Latniks of rank 2, as a simple example). Healers, like elves, specialize in instant healing to a single target or area. They do not impose a buff, but can apply their skills to any sector (while Elven healers need to be on a sector with Forest cover, and Dwarven healers impose buffs and regeneration on allies). Mages of the Empire have no control (with the exception of the Elementalist, a rank 2 unit), but instead are capable of unleashing many different types of AoE damage on the enemy, from the powerful one-time damage of Magical Blast to the gradually draining health of Ignition. Be sure to give this faction's dexterous players a try! Believe me, a Rank 2 Shadow will win you a ranked match almost single-handedly if you use it wisely.
Each faction has a lot of common combinations and passive features, but we will talk about them in the upcoming posts, which will be dedicated to each faction separately. We'll talk about which race uses the environment the best, how to maximize buffs with units of the same faction, and much more.
