There are many different modes in the game that differ in various criteria. There are training battles, which you can customize to your liking and invite your friends or opponents to them. There are rating battles, where the rules are formed by the system, it also selects you worthy opponents. We should not forget about the Fighting Pits (which we will talk about separately) and Trials.
But today we will tell you about other modes: the very rules that you can customize yourself in a training battle, and which are generated by the game if you have regged the rating.

Confrontation is the standard mode, about which there's basically nothing to say. The one who first strips the opponent (or opponents) of all units wins. Virtually all the interest here is created by you and your opponent. Of course, you can't do without surprises from the battlefield itself (places of power, traps, towers), but that's the topic of a separate post.
Harvest is perhaps the most variable of all the modes. Not only hostile AI-controlled units enter the arena every few turns (depending on the type of arena the strength of these units varies, and maybe even the appearance of bosses, but this will be the subject of a separate post), but also the number of participating players has a great influence on the game. in Harvest the one who kills the required number of units before others wins. Have you tried to win by stealing kills from your opponent with long-range units or abilities?
Holdout is the longest mode, but definitely not the most boring. It's the only mode where you don't have to deprive your opponent of units to win. Among other arena features, points of interest - the so-called hold points - will appear on the map. They are highlighted, you won't confuse them with anything. If your unit occupies one of these points at the moment of the round change, you get hold points.
By the way, did you know that moving to a holding point spends two movement points, not one? not for dwarves, though. the author of this post didn't know, so he has recorded several embarrassing defeats in this mode. We will talk about other nuances in the future.
