Update for August 24, 2026

Hi all,

I've release a new release with several bug reports reported via the steam forums from various users -- thank you!

I've also done some internal updates to libraries Rogue Remastered relies on (SDL, ncurses, a few more) to the latest version with themselves having some bug fixes, but most importantly we migrated from the unstable SDL3.0 branch to the modern SDL3.0 HEAD.

-- Fixed a bug with the steamdeck version not launching, I now do a build with an old version of arch from 2023 for linux and will use that moving forward for all linux builds (the steamdeck build and the linux build are the same executable)

-- Fixed a bug preventing the "F-SEER" buff from never disappearing when playing the 6.0.0 version.
-- Fixed a bug with the game crashing when dropping and picking up a scroll more than once.
-- Fixed a bug when drinking hallucination potions with any other status effect active.
-- Fixed a bug with audio initialization.
-- Fixed a bug with the ncurses build (you don't see this normally via steam, but the executable sits alongside the normal executable in your download folder, give it a try!) where terminals would lie about their color-changing capabilities and falsly claim support causing the game to render incorrectly. Instead now we probe the terminal if it really does support color-changing capabilities requires and close the game with an error message telling you your terminal is incompatible. Most of the time the fix is just use a different terminal.

ALSO this Friday (with valve approval) I will be posting a DEMO version for users to try.
