This month, we’re highlighting a feature that’s transforming exploration in Seasons of Solitude: Fog of War.
A World Waiting to Be Discovered
In Seasons of Solitude, every step forward uncovers new possibilities—or unexpected challenges. That distant tile might hold vital resources or conceal hidden dangers. Fog of War adds mystery and strategy to every run, making each decision impactful.
Exploration in Action
What lies beyond the fog?
How It Works:
1️⃣ Shrouded Terrain: At the start of each run, the map is cloaked in fog. Exploring reveals resources, hazards, and new paths forward.
2️⃣ Strategic Choices: Moving through the fog costs action points. Will you scout thoroughly or take a risk and dive into the unknown?
3️⃣ Visible Danger: Predators move within the fog, but sharp players can spot clues to avoid—or confront—them.
How It Changes Gameplay
What’s exciting is that each level in Seasons of Solitude presents a fresh map with its own unique challenges. Even if you’ve mastered one level, the next one could force you to rethink your strategy. Whether it’s navigating a resource-scarce environment or dealing with aggressive predators, no two runs feel the same. You’ll always need to adapt to the unknown.
We designed Fog of War to reward strategic players. You won’t always know what’s ahead, but if you pay attention, you can spot patterns or clues, like a predator’s movement or where resources are likely to be. It’s not just about reacting to surprises—it’s about staying one step ahead.
We can’t wait to see how you approach this. Will you carefully plan your route or take bold moves to chase rewards? And how will your strategies change with each new level? Let us know—we love hearing your stories!
See you on the frontier,
