We're so excited to finally bring you Project Moreum's second game, Lone Chef.
In this first Developer's Note, we're taking a deep dive into the world of Lone Chef and its amazing cast of characters.
The World of Lone Chef
Lone Chef is set in a post-apocalyptic era, thousands of years in the future.
Humanity, in its quest for expansion, pushed our planet to its limits, leaving it a desolate wasteland. The most critical issue was a severe food shortage. Cooking became a luxury, and even flavorless protein bars were a rare find.
Some scientists tried to engineer a "new humanity" that could survive on less food. The experiments failed, but from their mistakes, a being was born—one the world would come to know and fear: the Dark Lord.
As famine, conflict, and disasters ravaged the wasteland, humanity's numbers dwindled. But with fewer people, the planet began to heal. It started to recover its greenery, but the world was no longer the same.
Animals evolved into more aggressive and dangerous creatures. Plants became threats of their own. Worst of all, ancient golems—discarded robots that awaken each night—became humanity's most fearsome threat.
Yet even in the face of all this, survivors gathered in settlements, striving to rebuild civilization. In this new age, the lost art of cooking became the most sought-after knowledge of all. Dishes made from forgotten recipes held value rivaling gold and jewels, and people came to call this era the Great Age of Cuisine.
Adventurers dive into ruins in search of lost recipes, and those who claim them earn unmatched glory.
Main Characters
The Lone Chef
Our protagonist. He's a chef who has mastered the ancient art of cooking all on his own. He embarks on an adventure to rebuild his destroyed restaurant. His philosophy is simple: "The most delicious meal in the world is the one you share with the people you cherish."
The Dark Lord (Helen)
A powerful being born from the failed experiment, who now rules over humanity. She is obsessed with a blurry memory of "the most delicious meal in the world" and holds a cooking competition to find it.
Old Man
With a distinct "ho-ho-ho!" laugh, he is an inquisitive meddler. He is knowledgeable about the world but seems to be hiding a secret.
Lily Craft & Bleepy
A scientist from the old world awakened from cold sleep, and her loyal robot companion. Lily longs for the old world and searches for the truth hidden beneath the current one. By her side, the ever-faithful Bleepy quietly watches over and supports her.
Arlene
A girl of the New Humanity. Driven by revenge, she is chasing the one who destroyed her village. As a foxkin, she possesses excellent shapeshifting abilities and is a skilled fighter.
Irudeon
A robot who believes she is human. Sustaining herself through food, she joins the Chef's journey in search of her true purpose and identity.
Looking Ahead
Lone Chef aims to tell a story about the power of cooking—not just as a way to fill one's stomach, but as a way to bring people together.
In future Developer's Notes, we'll be diving into the cooking system, exploration, combat, and much more.
Stay tuned, and look forward to what's coming next!
